The Jocks did put a Catholic on the throne. James I, though he kept his Catholicism on the qt and played both sides.

Just looked it up, that was about 150 year before we clashed with them. So they must have tried it again in the 1700’s.

    'Kafflick AI' ;)

The Church of England was created by King Henry VIII in 1534 because the Pope refused to let him divorce Katherine of Aragon and he needed a son and heir. He next married Anne Boleyn who he had beheaded when she couldn't produce a male child either. Next Jane Seymour who did produce said male heir but died from childbirth complications (the boy was crowned King but died aged 15 from congenital syphilis related illness). Next Anne of Cleeves in a marriage reportedly unconsumated coz she was a bit of a minger. Next Katherine Howard who he had beheaded because it turned out she wasn't a virgin when she married him. Finally Catherine Parr, who'd been married twice before and would go on to have a kid with someone else after Henry had coughed it.

He was allegedly an advocate of women's rights and propriety :)

Protestantism already 'existed' - Martin Luther - but it still adhered to most teachings of the Catholic Church ... Luther initially was only seeking to reform the Catholic Church ...

... as brb posted - Henry was actually a devout Catholic ... but his succession was at stake - probably didn't help that Anne Boleyn was also a bit of a looker (according to @duggie2000 who saw her minge when she was changing this one time)...

The whole sectarian thing is proper bollox when you really boil it down ... it's like two brothers falling out forever because one took the last roast potato at a Xmas dinner back when they were kids :)

It all gets a bit confusing. King Billy with his Orange Lilly, was a Prod I think. Jocks seem to like him now, but he was Dutch I think, and English Prods put him on the throne, rather than have another Scottish Catholic. Or something.

Personally I don't have any division between CofE and the Catholic Church it's all much the same time me. Although thinking about it, all the roast potatoes were mine and I don't share, so Henry had a point.

No actually it's not, I don't do religious jokes, don't think I do anyway.

I'm a bit greedy when it comes to crispy roast potatoes, what I see is mine.

The reaction at the Manchester synagogue vigil to David Lammy, ****ing hell <laugh>

He needs to go, he's too divisive a character - but at least he would have heard the message loud and clear.

The police and politicians politely asking a proscribed terror group to not protest over the weekend. That’ll go well.

Shabana Mahmood says the Palestine protests yesterday were un-British for not showing solidarity with Jews. The horse may have bolted a bit there, hun.

Strangely enough, I was in Rochester last night for a curry with some mates. Couldn’t believe how quiet it was?
