https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/hull-paragon-wins-best-large-10514029 Not exactly sure how you would crown a railway station Sounds like a big job. But there you go it's official Paragon Station is the best large railway station. I have to say the old booking office is special Not so special is when you've not slept for 48hours jumped off the train from London and the Driffield trains about to leave the ticket machines not working there's no one in ticket office and you're told to download the app when you're heads not just a shed but a large empty building off the A63...... World just all **** off Anyway I got home eventually
Sounds good, one day that stretch of Ferensway is going to have Hammonds fully let, a Hull Tap opened in the old station ticket office, the Royal Station Hotel regenerated and reopened to the public and the Monocle fully let and thriving.
The hotel will get a full renovation (no area left untouched) when its current contract ends, and at no cost whatsoever to owners Britannia Hotel Group.
Spooky. I walked through the station earlier this week, first time for many months, and did actually think this all looks quite decent actually (bar the abhorrent situation with the Royal Hotel of course). As for a lot of the rest of the city centre and many of the people in it .... ... I despair. Edit: not saying it's worse than other cities and large towns, in fact from what I see many are a lot worse.
A win win win for Britannia, bought it cheap because it was in need of modernisation , getting paid for housing guests, and then get the refurb paid for.
Complete bollocks up on the a63 this morning... traffic diverted off at Priory Park. Some going right into Hessle, others like massive artics going down Livingstone Road... of course no one allowed for the fact that as you get up towards the Foreshore turn off, the road narrows to a one lane road with give ways... barely wide enough for a lorry... as you drove the other way, what did you see, nothing, nada... the girl at Enterprise said the road was flooded... I didnt see it, did anyone else...
Whoever built the A63 needs ****ing shooting, it floods too easily. Surely some basic drainage should have sufficed. It's not as if the rain has been torrential today.
