As best as I can recall, Angela Rayner had spoken out against people owning second homes when she was claiming that she was going to build 1.5 million houses as Housing Minister.

She then hypocritically bought a second home (we will not include her official London residence as she did not own it) but failed to pay the correct taxes having changed her place of residence from her constituency house in order to avoid some of taxes.

I imagine that she was not at the Liebour Conference this week as she was busy in Hove showing potential buyers around as she can no longer afford the mortgage on her backbench MP’s salary.

 

This whole schtick about who's British, English, Scots, what a load of old pish. Every one of us is a mongrel.

How about Miliband’s attack on Elon Musk’s social media network because it “incites violence” and is “an enabler of disinformation”. Perhaps somebody should remind Miliband that he has an account on X and peddles his Net Zero lies on a daily basis. If anyone should “get the hell out of our politics” then it should be lifetime loser Miliband.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood described her own party as “a little dysfunctional at times” in the understatement of the week. Clearly her knowledge of British history can be compared to that of David Lammy. Lammy thought that Henry VIII was followed by Henry VII but an inability with numbers comes with the membership card. In her key note speech she described the government as “following in the footsteps of Attlee’s New Jerusalem”. I doubt very much that a Muslim has a view of a ‘New Jerusalem’ that is inhabited by a single Jew; and Attlee’s government collapsed after one term ushering back Winston Churchill.

PS: Starmer actually paid more taxes on his land the way he set it up, he didn't avoid taxes.
