Smacks of some people that have done some research and just repeated what people have been saying for the last few weeks
I’m not sure - they are speaking to what they see in front of them. And I’m not convinced they are wrong
This hasn’t been possession for possessions sake or poor possession, we have created good chances and another day should have 3 goals
Really? Darling could have done better in the first half. These second half chances are just because West Brom are sitting back and we are launching crosses in hopefully. By that measure West Brom could have had 3/4 as well. We’ve never lost four home games at the start of the season before. An unwanted record for Manning.
Well, not another **** show but another home defeat. What is going wrong at CR? All the optimism at the start of the season and all we get is the same disappointment. Now 19th and going south.
West Brom would struggle to get 3 or 4 with only having 1 shot on target all game. WBA keeper has pulled off 3 or 4 big saves, Crnac from inside the 6 yard box, Makama from inside the 6 yard box, Marcondes freekick, Harry Darling header, Harry Darling shot over the bar
How could wba have got 3/4 ? Vlad never made one save in the entire match. At least get your facts right if you are going to be anti.
That’s limiting the assessment to shots on target - there was at least one instance in the first half where the WBA player just needed to connect properly and shanked it, then on a breakaway towards the end their striker got to the ball first but missed the target. Just two examples, I’m not going to rewatch the footage to find more as it is missing the point - eg I accept you could argue the toss on whether ours were “clearer cut”. But rehearsing “oh but we had better chances” is far too subjective - there are attempts at objectivity in the form of xG, which I am highly sceptical of as a stat but it has its uses. I don’t have access to the subscription sites, but I wouldn’t be surprised if our xG was significantly lower than WBAs for most of the match until the final ten mins when they sat back to roll with the punches. So my point is we quite obviously weren’t dominant in the game. We were easy to defend about because the passing is slow, the team is static, it lacks creativity visibly, our best chances come through relying on a moment of magic from Sargent (largely) or - towards the end - hoofing it into the box hoping it will hover near the 7’ bloke we’ve brought on. Now I’m not saying that’s not a legitimate tactic (I don’t like it, but it can be effective). My problem is we cannot do it because we still let decent chances go to the other team. So we are sort of playing like Pulis2012 but only half-heartedly and without the robust defence. That’s the worst of all worlds. Hope that straightens some “facts” for you.
