Vyner pleasantly surprised me tonight, he isn't a midfielder but he put in an excellent shift with 1 brilliant ball to put Riis through in the first half. Struber's plan to 'sit' suited Vyner's strengths/weaknesses.
The Ipswich player's legs wouldn't react as they did unless they were 'clipped', albeit accidentally. Definitely a penalty.
Why petulant?, if he clipped the player it was minimal and certainly accidental, very unlucky imo, and certainly not petulant
I think Supcon wrote that in the heat of the moment. On reflection he knows it was, as Struber said it was 'cheap penalty'. It was an accident, it happens.
Looked to me like their player felt contact, made the most of it, and went down, I thought this season those kind of incidents were supposed to not be given. the ref was crap anyhow, so not surprising he gave it
whilst I have to agree to a point .. thought last night SA showed a few signs of betterment....... what I would Q is is YU being played to his best position? Last season he seemed to running down the wing to corner and crossing [ loose statement ] A more nailed on CF would be a good addition in the Jan window!
Despite our stellar start to the season in the goal scoring dept we have now morphed back to our usual selves. How pleased we were when many players hit the score sheet and we thought we were made in the shade in an area that has haunted our dreams for many years. The purchase of both Mayulu and Armstrong must bring into question the lack of ability in our hiring department and if you add in the clamour to bring Twine back into the fold for 5 million quid then you have to wonder why the person responsible for one of the worst transfer grouping in our history is still employed at Bristol City. Do you think we will make any impact in the January transfer window or will the powers that be just tell Gerhard that we are O.K. where we are at the moment? I would like to see all of the players I have mentioned moved on in Jan and decent players brought in to replace them in total. I too thought Zak looked very good in his newer role.
I will totally agree that our current league position is excellent but I think we could be way better if we had addressed the issues about lack of goal scorers which could put us even better placed. Without a full deck to deal from I think 2 points from our last 2 games was fine against a couple of decent squads and so we move on hoping some of the injuries sustained are healing well enough to boost our selection pool to fill up with returnees.
Ifs and buts We are used to senior management at City not giving our most recent managers what they need to have any chance of success
Struber said it loud and proud what a cock up the window was regards the striker department he will want it sorted in jan.
My concern about the next transfer window is that Struber won't get the support needed from management to make City a true competitor in this division. We have been hearing rumblings amongst us about how we desperately need competent goal scorers for way too many seasons and someone, in their lack of due diligence, brought us the non-existent talents of Armstrong, Twine and Mayulu. Thinking back to all the talented scorers we have had over the years makes me yearn for one or two of them to be in this current squad. The transfer window will be the next show of commitment and I don't expect us to do much of anything as usual. So sad.
With a current midfield injury crisis I can't see us being near the top 6 in January so I don't expect Struber to get a striker in the January window. We'll muddle through, as per usual, and try again in the summer. The draws we've had this season massively emphasise why Struber was so angry he didn't get his promised striker last summer.
