I have heard that as many as 60% of premier league players eventually go bust, despite the massive wages. Its quite sad. Its not just football either. In America, its said that 80% of NFL players will eventually go bankrupt, 16% within 12 months of stopping playing. It seems easy for those of us in normal jobs that you just put a bit away each month, for us that might be £200, for a football player earning 100k a week that could be £20k. Footballers seem to take alot of stupid decisions, get mixed up with the wrong advisors, make investments in areas they know nothing about, and most importantly, don't make paying the taxman the number 1 priority. I wonder how many are given good advice when starting out or do they choose to ignore it, take their pension pots in one go, etc.

 

Points deduction in pipeline...That will in effect put them down....But, right now, they're certainly giving it a go and have to give them some credit for doing so.

On other championship stuff..We think we've got a ****e home record....Our benchmark, the Budgies from Narwych Town have lost all 4 home games, thus far, Millwall, Mbrough, Wrexham and West Brom.....5 if you include the League Cup. Pressure building on their manager, all ready.

It seems he has done the right thing and tried for years to get out of trouble and pay all his debts. He says he has no more assets to sell. Compare that with someone like Katie Price, who doesn't give a **** and seems able to carry on spending and taking multiple holidays and loads of operations every year, despite being bankrupt.

 

Great player in his day, but not so good at managing his brass. I recall hearing he was on £7,500 a week with Liverpool and thinking wow he's made for life.....Not so, as it turns out.

About time the FA got a grip on football club financing. Most clubs are running at loss relying on a rich owner to pour in money to make up the deficit.
All their punishments do is make it even harder for the club to get out of the hole they are in.
