What makes you think that they would sign extensions if they were surplus to requirements? Surely they’d still refuse and run down their contracts? Also difficult to sell a player (Bamford) if nobody wanted to buy him for cash.
Plus what would be the point of a short extension if they are not good enough which they clearly were not. Leeds are a football team and need to make decisions on that basis. We are not a fecking charity for sub standard players.
January is easy to sum up. If we buy someone then we have to sell someone before the end of June 2026. Paixão and Muniz are easy to sum up. If we got one of them then we have to sell someone by the end of June 2026. The hard bit is working out the values. If Paixao was 30 million on a 5 year deal, that means he costs us 6 million a season. Sell Gruev next summer for 6 million and that's this season covered.
