Think the manager wants to contain until second half , so we play slow ponderous passing with no pace - later he introduces pace , ball control and movement and we look really good . I think his selections are dodgy at times .
I think Egan has a lot to do with our defensive problems. Hughes has been poor as well, but so many times he’s not marking his man, or can’t clear the lines. The manager got it wrong big style. We need high energy players for the style we play. That’s when we are best. Unfortunately for some that means selecting the likes of Coyle and Slater. Alphabet was just off it, probably not used to a press as such.
Are we experimenting with getting Hughes out into midfield, the only thing i saw of interest in that dire first half, doesn't look like a marauding Delaney/Chester/Maguire yet but something to work on?
Is it because Hughes, who after it spent time calling **** out of Pandur and blaming him for it, failed to see their goal scorer literally pointing where he wanted the ball, and decided not to bother to close him down at all so they could simply pass it past him into the goal? Maybe not, but Hughes was pissing me off kicking off at everyone else when he’d been, at best, a bit **** for both goals
Giles was shaking his head coming off so he may be out for a few games. Manager should have started subbing after 20 mins. The shape and balance was all wrong. No idea how Dremeh is getting picked to play as a winger.
Watching live I didn't have a clue why Pandur just stood there for both goals After watching replays I have no clue why Pandur just stood there for both goals
The pre-match piano music needs binning off immediately. There's no place for that in the build-up to a game. Also wasn't a fan of the new video package/music after it (and I think our video/media output has improved immensely since the change of ownership - it's levels above what we used to do) - this music was another bad choice. The whole thing with the sound mess ups once the players were out kinda set precedent for the first ten minutes of flat football that we produced. I commented on Palmer last game and was questioned on here. I stand by what I said. I have no idea what he is doing anywhere near our starting 11. Drameh on the right just didn't work - he was constantly facing towards the ball rather than running onto anything and, several times, him and Coyle were running towards one another. Why we kept trying to go down the right-hand side made no sense as it never went anywhere. I'm glad to see Joseph growing in confidence and having more of an impact on the game. He's working his arse off to get his season fully up and running. Millar is a welcome return, most definitely. McBurnie is the striker we've needed for years. When's Crooks back? The season is already leaps ahead of last. Even when we're bad, the games are still entertaining
Also scrap the higher or lower ****e at half time. If that's the best we've got, just play some music.
If Sergj was trying to lull Preston into a sense of security for a second half barrage, it worked....Why on earth would you start with Drameh in front of Slater, and Palmer in front of Joffy?.Baffling team selection. Unless he is determined to see Drameh do something. He was pony. Palmer not much better. When we injected some pace and thinking, after the break, we got at them. But we can't start every game at the start of the second half. The first 45 was probably the worst I've seen since the last worse 45....Misplaced passes. No urgency ...Players arguing. Looked as if they'd just been introduced to each other for the first time.. Got to get it sorted or else a relegation scrap is on the cards...As for Pandur. Having seen the second goal again I just can't for the life of me get how he didn't save it...It wasn't even a hard shot, more like a back pass. Start with Phillips vs the blunts...Rant over. ps...the prematch music was utter $hite. Embarrassingly bad.
