Var didn’t cheat. Pope stood his ground, and nicked the ball with his foot. Pope doesn’t have to get out of the way. He didn’t come flying out and go through Gyokeres after having the ball nicked passed him, which would have been a penalty and probably a red card.

    The touch is irrelevant
    Gyokeres was past him.
    It was a tap in.
    Penalty and red card.

    I hate this sport sometimes.

We should be 3-0 up and we're 1-0 down.

The touch Pope made is very relevant. Go and watch where the ball actually was after Pope touched it, that was no tap in.

You should have been 1-0 or 2-0 up anyway from Trossards chance or from Eze’s shot.

Gyokeres is just too slow in every respect. No pace and doesn’t act quickly.

Yes. Merino , Martinelli, MLS and Odegaard made a big difference.
We need to shift the starting 11 IMO
Can not keep Martinelli or MLS on the bench and if we are going to play a traditional 9, Merino is the best we have.

Even better, Nketiah got the late winner against Liverpool.

Absolutely buzzing after that result. Thought we deserved the win as the lads put in a tremendous effort and were very unlucky to be 0-1 down at HT

The penalty overturn was a ****ing joke, that's a foul every day of the week.

Good subs from Arteta and he deserves some credit for that

Big Gabby nodding in at the death was beautiful

Great weekend, Utd lost, Chavs got spanked, Pool lost in injury time and we won in injury time.

Shame the spuds equalised against wolves otherwise it would have been a perfect full house.

I think this is the thing that impresses me - I know we scored two late goals, but it wasn't a smash and grab. We thoroughly deserved to win because the performance warranted it. In almost every metric you want to look at, we were far superior to them.

    Newcastle: 36% possession
    Arsenal: 64% possession

    Newcastle: 0.49 xG
    Arsenal 2.05 xG

Newcastle: 8 shots (3 on target)
Arsenal: 20 shots (7 on target)

Newcastle: 17 touches in opposition box
Arsenal: 43 touches in opposition box

    Newcastle: 5 goalkeeper saves
    Arsenal: 2 goalkeeper saves

    Newcastle: 7 corners
    Arsenal: 12 corners

It would have been a travesty if we hadn't got 3 points from that.

Now we've got Old Trafford, Anfield and St. James Park out the way in the first 6 games of the season. We've closed the gap on Liverpool to 2 points when many feared it was going to be extended to 8 points. Top weekend <ok>.

Huge win today. PGMOL still ****ing us over but we showed good resilience.

If at the start of the season someone asked me the toughest three fixtures for us I would say..

    Liverpool (away)
    City (away)
    Newcastle (away)

Ok soo we played City at home but still - that's quite a start we've had.

I'm not sure you even watched the game, to say Pope stood his ground LOOOOOOL ! He came out and had forward momentum when he collided with Gyokeres.

And in any case, just because he touched the ball that doesn't mean he can clatter the player in the follow through. Precedent has been set already, Saliba was penalised for making contact with an attacker with his head - after touching the ball with his head (a header) and a penalty was given - this season, so clearly the follow through activity is relevant.

The touch is irrelevant ! Saliba conceded a penalty for committing the same offence - touching the ball but followed through with his head.
