    Saturday 27th Sept 2025 3:00pm kick off

    Gerhard Struber presser-

Well it does not get much harder that this Preston have started well just like City both sitting on eleven points. However Preston have definitely had the harder games and beat Leicester and Ipswich along the way.

Bristol City will need to play 100% better than the performance against Oxford otherwise there will only be one outcome a loss.

The next three games are going to tell us a awful lot on what our season is going to look like.

I would take a draw Saturday i suspect a loss a win would be a huge bonus.

Predictions 1-0 Preston 2-1 Preston by these two-

“Clash of the surprise packages”: Preston North End vs Bristol City predictions
The72’s writers offer their Preston North End vs Bristol City prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

Preston North End and Bristol City meet in the Championship this weekend as both look to build on positive starts.
Preston North End will be out to continue their winnings ways in the Championship against Bristol City. PNE defeated Derby County at Pride Park in their last league outing.

The Lilywhites achieved their first away win of the season against the Rams, scoring in the first half. An Alfie Devine strike from outside the box was the only goal in the game, despite the hosts improving in the second half.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have demonstrated attributes that will make them a difficult opponent to face this season, especially their improved home form. The Lancashire side only managed seven home wins during the 2024/25 campaign.

As for Bristol City, this clash with Preston North End marks a test amid an impressive start to the campaign.

The South West side suffered their first loss of the season against Oxford United last time out, with Gerhard Struber’s team beaten 3-1.

Struber has a group that is showing strong goal scoring qualities with star players like Anis Mehmeti and the ex-PNE forward Emil Riis catching the eye.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predications for the game…

    Will Evans-Jones
“Early on this season, Bristol City look like they have only grown stronger from the last campaign. With impressive players such as Riis, Twine, Randell and Mehmeti and more, they’re looking promising early on. I’m confident they can threaten a Preston North End side that have only kept two Championship clean sheets all season.

“However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they find it difficult on Saturday. PNE have made Deepdale a fortress as they are currently unbeaten at home in the league since the start of the season.

“New loan signings and fans favourites Lewis Dobbin and Alfie Devine will be wanting more goals, with Heckingbottom pleased to have such quality in his ranks.

“Ultimately though, I think Preston North End and Bristol City are strong sides in their own respects. Due to the strength in depth by both sides, I can see both sides cancelling each other out.”

Prediction: Preston North End 2-2 Bristol City

    James Ray
“This meeting of Preston North End and Bristol City marks a clash of the surprise packages.

“Yes, Bristol City were in the play-offs last season, but after losing Liam Manning and having a fairly quiet summer transfer window, I think many anticipated a bit of a drop. That may yet come, but Struber has started brilliantly at Ashton Gate.

“They head to Deepdale to face a well-drilled Preston North End side, who are combining hard work and bright attacking talent early. It makes for an intriguing game, and a tough one to call.

“Ultimately, I think this ends level. Don’t be surprised if the hosts nick another impressive home win though.”

Prediction: Preston North End 1-1 Bristol City

    A little snip it ~
Bristol City FC's biggest attendance was 43,335 during an FA Cup match against Preston North End on February 16, 1935. This record-setting attendance occurred at Ashton Gate and remains the highest in the club's history, surpassing its current seated capacity due to the inclusion of standing room in that era.

Preston used to be a bogey side for us until a few seasons ago, when we finally slew that ghost.
Let’s hope that old ghost doesn’t come back to haunt us!!

Riis was stupid getting a booking, could easily get another battling with their defenders.
In fairness we should be in front but happy if we come away with a point.
