Which suggests that he wasn't quite the total ideologue he is being accused of by many supporters. Yes, he failed, at least in the immediate term, but he was being asked to build a foundation for the future minus Sara but with a handful of very young foreign recruits, plus there is every sign that the goalposts were conveniently moved once Knapper summarily dumped the principles he had put forward to land the job. He couldn't wait to sack Wagner and he showed zero patience (and perhaps zero integrity?) towards Thorup. The club can, and should, do better.
