Sorry to hear that mate. I bet he was pleased to see you though and spend time with you. That must have brought him some comfort.

It can be disturbing when you see someone who's unwell after aperiodoftime. Those living with them don't see the change as being so dramatic as they see them every day.
I see similar reactions when people see mife after only 3-4 weeksas she slowly deteriorates.
She's a little bit worse today emotionally as well as she lost her father this morning

Was good to see everyone who made the Fans Museum today. Thanks to @Smug in Boots for the reminder to turn up. Been struggling to work out why I’ve been struggling this week. Tough to say that when you see what others are going through. Gan canny everyone.

Everyone has bad weeks at times but glad you got to the museum. Whenever you need a pair of eyes or ears there'll be plenty of volunteers on here who would be happy to listen

A seriously ****ty day today. Operation on my sinuses that's been a complete pain for over 2 years cancelled, work is a complete pain in the arse. Other things that I can control at times come to the front at times like this, so my response whether right or wrong is drink. Really think I need it today, just to blot things out

Drink was invented for that reason mate, don't underestimate the benefits or feel you have to apologise ...

... if you're aware of the negative aspects, and can control them, there's a time and place for a drink.

Most people feel the way you are in their early 30s mate, "everyone's getting on but I'm not" and that's natural bud. I've has a few chats with lads in their early 30s that feel like you do,but try and remember, what works for some doesn't work for everyone. Yes people may have houses and flats and families etc, however, are they all happy? Did they do it because they wanted to or felt they had to? What rut are you in mate?
