out & not in. http://www.thesquareball.net/what-ken-said/2011/12/14/what-ken-said-14-12-11-months-not-weeks/ The good news is theres free sasuage rolls. Woop.
If you read what he actually says he is correct. We have too many players as it is, so getting rid will free up more money and wages. If you gave your son a fiver for 23 sweets, he comes back with 29 but doesn't like any, would you give him money for more?
Ye but What if you liked the 29 sweets he bought? even if he doesn't you still give him a couple of quid more n tell him to go buy even more of them even if he doesn't like them!!!
So despite a majority of his signings being poor, and lets face it they are, you'd continue to give him money? I'm a Grayson fan, but in the transfer market he is poor. The signings we need are going to be expensive with decent wages, unless we un-earth another gem. I'm personally expecting about 5-8 to go with 2 maybe 3 coming in. You seem to be forgetting that Grayson already has a massive squad, a squad which is now his. I think Bates is basically saying, we'll sort the **** before we add to it.
He may like the sweets, but if he says 'They are the wrong ones, I want better ones now', would you continue to fork out?
Not to mention at least four of those squad members would have come through the youth team & will be on peanuts at the moment. Cairns, Zac Thompson, Charlie Taylor & Lewis Turner (maybe also Lees) will hardly be commanding a massive fee yet. Pugh, O'Dea & Keogh will probably be having there wages subsidised from there parent club and I would have thought that Rachubka & Bruce will be having part of there wages handled by the clubs there at.
Hope so mate and if thats the case I think we all agree. I just think he is setting us up for another fall & we will let players go but keep on our current loanees so we arent really adding to the promotion push
Bucks Writing does seem on the wall for this to happen in fairness, but I see what Bates is saying. The likes of Paynter, Bruce, Forsell, Bromby, Parker could all easily go. Bromby and Bruce are reportedly on high wages (don't quote, remember seeing on this or another site), I think this is what he is getting at, as all are pants, don't play but are earning for too much money for playing reserves games! Not forgetting who signed them... However I have a feeling we will spend fairly well this market. Bates is speaking of promotion, but if he spends nothing then sacks Grayson, I'm sure 100% of fans will want him out, he must see this? Hoping for a CB, LM and perhaps CM.
I know it's easy to worry when Bates says things like this, but he's saying our squad should have about 23 players (possibly minimum) and it's currently 28/29, we could cut that right down simply by getting shot of: Bruce Bromby Paynter Rachubka Parker AOB And then we could add 2 or 3 wise signings aswell as Keogh and Pugh.
