One horse for me that looked a value bet, though by no means a strong recommendation:

1.20 Exeter: VOLCAN SURPRISE 8/1

This seems to be a horse who Alan King felt had some potential, and has gone off short prices on his first two starts in Britain. Some people would call him disappointing to have finished 2nd twice, but there are reasons to be hopeful.

Firstly, he has been at the head of affairs both starts and stuck to his task very well. Both times he and the winner have pulled well clear of the rest of the field, and I think we are dealing with an above average hurdler who has shown signs of greeness.

Secondly, I think this is a horse who is going to get 2m 4f easily in time, and the conditions tomorrow will make use of that stamina (Heavy ground). It is interesting that the horse has gone from 2 maidens straight into a class 3 handicap qualifier for the Betfair Hurdle, and I just think at the prices he represents the value at 8/1 considering he is completely unexposed.

Arryan is the only one who has shown glimpses of class, but he is conceding just 2lbs shy of 2 stone here and I am hopeful of a bold enough showing in these conditions from Volcan Surprise. He travelled with more fluency on second start which suggests he is going in the right direction.

Another selection, though at a most likely ridiculous price (despite tissue of 4/6) is Royal Charm, who was travelling extremely well in the Sandown future stars race before falling. Hope I don't put the mockers on him but he looked a nice prospect.

Have a good day, no doubt I'll be in meetings trying not to get frustrated with numptys who overstate their importance <laugh>

Morning Toppy. Hope you are well mate. Just a question about the page itself. Can anybody tell me who the jockeys at the top of the page are? Maybe the horses and the race? <cheers>

"Dano , what the ****,, Oddys birthday and no heads up , well thanks a bunch,,,,,,, Oddy all the best now Listen,,, Darroun has his first run for us in the 2 mile 3yo hurdle. He is a fine big ex-French horse that will jump a fence in time.he is no cheese eating surrender monkey and im sure he will come on for this he is a real good ground type but he is fit and ready to run, so he will take his chance here.
Super Sonic Boom in the 2 mile maiden hurdle, is another who mightn’t be suited by very soft ground but he has to start off somewhere, so we will see how he gets on today. Ceol Rua runs in the 2 mile novice hurdle. She was very disappointing at Wexford last time but we are expecting a better performance here. She will handle the ground and, with improvement anticipated, she must have a good chance here.
Are Ya Right Chief (we know he is not but we do love that mechanic) makes his hurdling debut in the 2m 2f maiden hurdle. He jumps well and will love the ground. He will give a good account of himself if he settles into jumping early (and he has recovered from the darts)
. Quaquo De Flotte goes for the 3 mile maiden hurdle. He didn’t run too badly in a similar race at Naas last month and will like the ground and trip here. Chasing will be his game in the future but he should run well today.
Primroseandblue runs in the bumper. He probably won’t be in love with this ground but has a definite chance on previous form.So there you have iy Dano, a late birthday gift for Oddy we have 3 winners today you pick them, stay frosty big fella, see ya on the other side"

Morning all.
Pretty sure that's Ruby in the yellow colours of John Hales, maybe on Noland?

Sure it is now, having checked Noland's form.

I'd say it's the finish of the 2006 Supreme Novices hurdle - right to left Noland, Straw Bear (McCoy), Sublimity (Phillip Carberry) and I think Buena Vista (Timmy Murphy).

Ron will no doubt tell us.

BTW I backed Noland that day and was about to throw away the slip as they came round the final bend but he stayed on from another parish to take it.

Another quality message from Willie Dan <laugh>

Like the look of that Darroun in the first - likely prohibitive odds though

Good morning, onya Toppy! <ok>

I read that it is the 50th birthday of the anti-inflammatory drug Ibuprofen, a benefit to both humans and animals, especially the equines. I am sure there will be quiet toasts in yards all around the world in honour of this extraordinary medicine? Regardless of occasional side-effects, a well-done to Boots of Nottingham! <bubbly>

Sorry, forgot, it's Phenylbutazone (Bute) which they use for racehorses. Correction before Ron and PN jump all over me! <doh>

13:20 Exeter - All The Winds

(As much as I respect the chances of Volcan Surprise and the probable favourite Express Leader, I have to go along with the German-bred All The Winds. His sire Samum showed a real liking for soft to heavy ground conditions on the flat in Germany, and his grandsire Monsun was a renowned mudlark. Selection might go well for this small yard who do like the occasional tickle).

Morning all... Just thought id throw my hat into the ring for the 1.20, as we all seem to have an (no) idea of who will win it...

Drumshambo will hopefully put his mistake at Huntington behind him and make amends here... 4/1... But its a pick thats not made with great confidence in a race that anyone of em could win...

So thats 4 different picks out of 7 runners... Anybody else have a pick... <laugh>

Right I'll take a chance that Circus of Dreams, 7/1, needed his most recent run and can at least come home at least in the top 3 of this 8 runner field at Towcester (1.40)

<laugh> May as well join in. Exeter 13:20 Highway Code looks as though he likes a wet track, and has solid recent form, so should strip well.

Exeter 13:20. Highway Code EW.

Well if we're playing this game I can't see past Express Leader in the 13.20.
