Herta named as Caddy test driver and will not compete in IndyCar next season. Mad decision on his part imo. Bleh.

Do you think we’ll see him in F2 - as rumoured -alongside this?

How do you rate him? I’ve watched some IndyCar the last couple of years and don’t really see it, but don’t think I’m best placed to really judge.

He may need to with the whole deal with super licenses, but that's a cauldron.

And honestly, a couple of years ago there seemed to be a lot more promise than there is now. He has a tendency to make unforced errors unfortunately.

Palou in the other hand. Now he'd cut it in F1.

Thanks that makes sense, I think I’ve seen the odd flash of talent, but a lot of inconsistency and it seems like his average performance is below his reputation, if you see what I mean. If I compare him to an F1 driver, I’m thinking he’s a bit like Lance Stroll, in that he’s often below what he’s capable of?

Palou certainly seems to be able to get more from the IndyCar tyres than the other drivers - especially the Blacks - and he seems to be able to think his way through a race with his team. I can’t say with any confidence though that the skill sets are that transferable, what makes you convinced he can cut it? What kind of level do you think he’d be at compared to the current drivers?

I would say that it's ability to manage his tyres and fuel while still remaining quick. He's also unbelievably consistent. It's rare that you see a driver dominate to the level he has this season and he only seems to be getting better. He's learned a lot from Dixon strategically over last few seasons, but now he's on a whole other level.

I'm not comparing the two, but he's almost Prost like in some ways. He'll bide his time, stay out of trouble and then put himself in a comfortable winning position by race end.

    He's a talent for sure.

Well, he's going in to F2, taking a risk to follow his dream by 'stepping down a level', I hope it works out for him just for that.
For what it's worth the guy I think could make it to F1 if he tried, is Connor Zilisch from the xfinity nascar (their F2), kid is fast.

If Horner has been sacked , why is he getting a £52m severance deal?

I’m suspect you don’t understand the meaning of the word “sacked“? He wasn’t dismissed for breach of contract, he was relieved of his duties and they’re paying him off for wanting an early termination of his contract.

I'm guessing because both investigations found him not guilty and some wanted him out of his long term contract they had no choice but to pay him the entire contract.
I wonder if he will 'invest' some of the money into being a part owner - maybe Alpine?

Sadly (for the entertainment) I guess one would replace the other.

If he wants to own a team it puts him in direct competition with the Szafnauer project and massively cuts down his options. I’d think right now only Haas and Alpine would entertain thoughts of a sale, FIA seem to have ruled out a 12th team?

Replacing Vasseur once Ferrari dump him (they extended his contract recently, so we can safely assume he’s going to fail there now!) seems like the obvious next step from the outside, but maybe he’s aware of an opportunity none of us can see?

I might be being cynical, but I couldn’t help but read that as, “If we’re competitive the team will be after and attractive to one of the younger talents and there won’t be space for me, if we’re not I’m still their best option”.
