Got away with one there. Seen some clips of the match towards the end and I’m amazed the game wasn’t called off sooner. Absolutely dire playing conditions.
I think Greaves red won't stand either. Mind you he looks like a bit of a lummox to me, positioning not good. Quicker the Burgess but slower in the head. Mind you Kipre made some similar mistakes, we seem to have gone from playing CBs who stand off, to wanting aggressive front foot CBs but that's risky.
I've just read that the game might not be replayed in full. It's down to the discretion of the EFL board
Hi dudes Derby coming up feeling positive? Live near Ipswich & there are tons of people wearing the shirts . Good luck for the season other than the game's against us .
It will definitely be replayed in full. The only circumstances under which a result would stand is if the abandonment was the fault of one club like crowd trouble or refusing to play or if the result was of no consequence.
Anyway. Some very nice football at times in the first half. Cajuste and Davis were seriously impressive. Too many passengers though. Not convinced we will have the time to grow to make a fist of it this season.
I think Cajuste's quality is there for all to see, however I'm not convinced by him in the double pivot. He takes too many risks on the ball and often loses it plus whilst he can certainly tackle he's not particularly defensively minded. I've felt for a while given we have pretty much 5 forwards on the pitch plus a rampaging left back the double pivot needed looking at and that was with both Luongo and Morsy in there both of whom were far more defensively minded that Cajuste. I think Broadhead and Davis could get away with a lot because Luongo used to cover the space so well, Cajuste doesnt do that.
Its sunny down here in South Coast. Lets remind ourselves that we have more less a team of new players from September bedding in. As Hampy says, there were periods of real quality. As I say, I will better judge things at end of this month, early October wen we have stuffed those yellow feathers!
He was doing the covering job of two midfielders, Matusiwa was lost. I think if necessary with Nunez in front of him Cajuste could adapt to play as a holding midfielder.
Not that I ever had any doubt but it just shows what a monumental presence Morsey was for us,he literally did the job of two men.Big,big boots to fill.
Agreed, I get the feeling Matusiwa was the "Luongo" replacement and the plan was to keep Morsy. He has some similar characteristics to Luongo, probably a better passer of the ball but is a good reader of the game but like many of the replacements for the promotion winning team he's a bit more front footed when it comes to winning the ball back.
We drove back from Blackburn today in brilliant sunshine ironically, first point is that the game had to be stopped because the ball wouldn't bounce or roll and maybe should have been stopped earlier. The second point is that I don't think we are one of the top teams in the division or even a good team at the minute, I think we caught Sheff Utd who are a poor team at there lowest ebb and apart from that game we've struggled against average teams like Derby and Blackburn, our goals tally is poor as is our shots and shots on target stats, we dominated at Preston and lost to a pen but we hardly had any worthwhile shots at goal so didn't deserve anything from the game. This may change of course as the season wears on and I hope it does but right now we must improve or face life in the lower half of the division which considering our financial outlay and income is a worrying prospect.
Spot on fieldmarshall. I hope for a few changes to the line up (aside from Kipre coming in for Greaves of course), because the newcomers must be more or less up to speed by now, and that the chances we do create will find the net against Portsmouth and Norwich and we can build from there.
Well done FM for making it up there in such atrocious conditions. The away support was terrific and hope you will be rewarded soon!
