Duplantis broken his own world record AGAIN. At what point does he reach his limit. How much higher can he go?
Is anyone (else) watching the Women's rugby world cup semifinal between New Zealand and Canada? It's been a brilliant display of running rugby, with a scoreline of 34-19, to...................................Canada!!!
4 x 100 Men's relays. For a change US looked to have been practising together, but Canada with their years of togetherness have to be favourites. Monumental cockups by Jamaica, Team GB and SA.
Hamilton out in Q2. Leclerc crashes in Q3. Just typical Ferrari. It was all looking so promising in practice
What a brilliant 800m final! All under 1.43!! Wanyonyi was brilliant to hold off the challengers in the last 100m. And he is only 21!!
With the World Championships almost concluded, it is time for better funding for athletics in the UK. I am sure the talent is there but UK athletes need proper financial backing if they are ever to compete at the top level, individual athletes apart. I did not see oñe British decathlete. And where are our field athletes? Instead of funding the UK's defences so much, put the money into athletics, swimming and gymnastics for all ages!
And in Tokyo, I see the US are somehow running in the Men's 4 x 400 relay after finishing 6th in their heat yesterday. Deserved win for Botswana!!
So much doping in Kenyan running I struggle to believe any sudden massive improvement is legal and clean. Odira who just won the women’s 800m gold: Start of 2024 - PB = 2:11.73 Kenyan Trials 2024 - PB - 1:59.28 2025 PB = 1:56.52 2025 WC Final - PB = 1:54.62 Her top 10 fastest 800m still include a time over 2mins! Maybe she’s an incredible talent and will dominate the 800m from this point on and fair play if that is the case. But that level of improvement in such a short space of time is highly suspicious imo, particularly given Kenya’s record with doping. Hope I’m wrong because women’s 800m running is in an exciting place. Not surprised Hunter Bell beat Hodgkinson though. The formers had a brilliant season whereas Keely has spent much of the last year struggling with injuries and not racing.
Only solace he might take is that there are worse tracks for this to happen as it's unlikely Norris will make up loads of places here.
Both men and women's 800m is at an incredible level. With regard to doping, these athletes will be tested, so only time will tell whether her performance is down to great talent, or is due to other factors. I hope it is the former because I have loved Kenyan athletes ever since Kip Keino!!
