Grealish had moments but in general they were tactical and designed to get Grealish into spaces so that he was separated and able to run at his man whereas in the first half where it was just a 1 on 1 battle Bradley was right on him and had him in his pocket. 2nd half the full back pushed on and it meant that Bradley had thinking to do and this created space for Grealish who improved but as it went on Bradley took control again. Very impressed.

    Spot on.

Was very impressed with the whole back line in fairness, they were attacking us but it wasn’t like they were peppering the goal and we just about held on.

We were very positionally aware and were pretty cool under the pressure. Really good sign and breeds further team confidence

I was bitterly disappointed in Grealish
Talented player that seems to have taken the easy route
    His diving is ridiculous
The fact refs know what he is like and yet still award free kicks is outrageous

yet Salah could be knee capped and he would not get a free kick
Would love to know that touches to free kicks given

    anyway rant over

This bit should tell you that if he gets fouled he gets a free kick.
The fact that you don't know what a foul is is irrellevent.

Because a ref has never given a free kick for something that wasn’t a foul?

No point in replying to Diego now - he'll be sleeping it off. :)

I will just leave it at laughing at him

I think that is one of the thickest posts I have ever seen on here - and bearing in mind some of the tosh I have posted, there is some serious competition.

he may have been fishing <laugh>

    so I thought I would give a little nibble - well it’s a bigger one now <laugh>

<peacedove>This is a game I think our reserve team will play flanged by some first team players ,Honestly, I cannot predict the line up. Also, Liverpool wants to continue the momentum of not losing. Going to be a disaster losing in the third round of the league cup at home to Southampton.
Referee is yet to be appointed for this game,
    Game: Carabao Cup third round
    Date: Tuesday 23rd September 2025
    Stadium: Anfield.
    Time: 20:00
    TV: Sky Sports 1.

Players who surely must start (there are no kids anywhere near their positions)

    Marmadashvilli
    Frimpong
    Gomez
    Robertson
    Endo (bajcetic is not ready)
    Jones
Chiesa (where was he last weekend?)

    This for me then leaves
    Nyoni (small hope)
    Danns (small hope)
    Ngumoha (locked in imo)
    Leoni (locked in imo)

However I expect isak to start not danns and danns.might hope for 30mins if lucky.

Nyoni should start but I still have this thought slot will go start wirtz to keep him improving.

This is the classuc game made for the 4 boys, one of which is a massive buy and 2 who are cheaper buys but still buys.

Danns joined the club at 8.

Of all the other youths at the club who are not signings (Ayman, wright etc) theres nobody imo very close to anything.

The u21s play man utd today at 2pm. That team will likely tell us a lot aboit who might even make this bench

Yeah Isak is probably starting this one - he'll play a part at least to get some minutes in without much consequence.

You'd like it to be danns thst comes.on on 60 after a isal hat trick.

    For the record

    Chambers not fit
Bajcetic back in training but not fit
    Morrison. Nowhere near
Kone Doherty. Doubtful he'd be involved.
    Nallo nowhere near good enough
    Lucky. Nowhere near.
    Wright injured
    Sonni lambie- latest name
Ayman - expensive but nowhere near.

Back 5 picks itself; those who didn’t start this weekend.

Chiesa Isak Rio seems kind of obvious

midfield is tougher and much weaker imo; Jones, Endo (not sure if one of the kids is ready/fit for a start in midfield……and Wirtz as 10

Maca didn’t play in Europe so I suspect he’ll get the nod to sit on the bench if needed.

The players who played 3 in 6 days should be resting. There’s still enough quality in the team to do this, though I doubt it will be pretty.

I’m looking forward to seeing Leoni and Rio play 90.

    Yeah.

Its not like Southampton have had a good start here.

The biggest issue for me is always the loss off vvd means zero set piece threat.

Leoni is a lump. Let’s hope he’s been taking note. Then Isak….after that it’s a team of little uns.

He's tall. We dont know if he is a lump like maguire or a majestic lion like vvd.

Some tall players are very poor at attacking a ball. Knoate isn't great tbh.

Hopefully he is a handful anyway.

But when you are disjointed seeing rhys williams and Joe gomez as the options. Not good.

Hopefully they will look like they've at least met each other in this game.
