Maybe the starter of the thread is Lucas Jutkiewicz, if so hello! I have not seen Jutkiewicz play much so can't comment but I do wonder if he would be too similar to other striking options; how quick is he because we could do with some pace?
He seems pretty similar to Rodriguez. Both are 6'1" but are pretty quick for their height. I just looked them up on Football Manager and Rodriguez is slightly quicker but Jutkiewicz has better first touch and better off the ball. Hardly anything between them though, and they've both ended up doing well in the Prem on my save.
Whereas he's starting regularly and playing well in League Two on mine! Away from FM and into real life, Lukas isn't the way I'd go but if Nige and co decide it's the best thing to do then I'm all for it.
Seriously? He's had a great time at Norwich on mine. Scored 25 goals in one season. Finishing - 14 First Touch - 14 Heading - 13 Technique - 13 Determination - 15 Off the ball - 16 Acceleration - 14 Pace - 13 Strength - 16 That's one hell of a League Two player!
Mine has Finishing - 15 First Touch - 14 Heading - 12 Technique - 12 Determination - 15 Off the ball - 14 Acceleration - 11 Pace - 11 Strength - 14 He's stuck with Coventry all this time. He's been averaging 7.4 in League Two, though.
I like Jutkiewicz i think he could do a great job for us and as for the 3 million price tag we are top of the league trying to buy a a player who NA obviously thinks is good enough for the premier league i personally think 3 million is proper peanuts and if NA thinks he is good enough then we should buy him i also think we should go all out for maynard as well. It seems to me that alot of saints fans are being very outdated in thinking 3 million for a striker who has premier league potential is alot of money. Wake up guys it cost best part of a million for a **** in the premier league.
I'm sure we will get someone as Nicola has said as much. Otherwise, we will have to consider that the few who suggest that we have little money may be right. The team is doing great but we need fresh blood to carry us over the line.
Just posing the question, as I don't know the answer due to a severe case of complete indifference to anything in the Premier League, but is there any striker from the PL who could be tempted to come to Saints, and who would be warmly welcomed by supporters..? Or what about Europe..?
If we buy someone we're stuck with them, so have to be very careful who we buy, but there must be some fringe players in the PL who could do a job for us as loanees. Like second stain I hardly pay any attention to the Prem (this year at least) so don't know who's in or out.
This guy is talking sense. I wouldn`t be knocked off my feet with excitement if he did come, Juke is good enough for the Championship anyday. Given the quality of our squad I think he would thrive here.
Plenty. One we missed out on is a young chap named Ricky van Wolfswinkel - played for Utrecht so may well have bent to the allure of possible Premier League football and only left them for £4.5m, less than we were linked with Maynard and Jay Rod for. Sadly he's at Sporting now so is probably happy! It's difficult to tell who would and who wouldn't join a Championship team though.
As great a game as Football Manager is, you can't use it to justify things in the real world! Take Chaplow. He's ten times the player in real life than he is on FM.
Fair enough, but I do think that we could negotiate the price down a lot given Coventry's financial situation. Maynard is unlikely to be allowed to leave Brizzle in January as staying up means more to them than a few million, hence why they rejected Leicester's advances in the summer. Remember Jermaine Beckford? He wanted a January move, but Leeds kept him and let him go for free in the summer so he could help get them up.
Yeah like the idea of doing a deal, still think we need to put the clubs ambition 1st and foremost and if trying to under pay what a club values there player at jeopordises our ambition to return to the premier league then i think we need to swallow our pride and pay whats being asked. Lets face it NC is a stubborn business man which in the past has been good for us for example the chamberlain deal but also has back fired for example losing out on sharpe pre season. I for one am very interested in what happens in Jan. i got a feeling its gonna be a nail biting 2012.
