Every other club signing a player of that magnitude has been able to start them - zubamendi, Ekitike, madueke, and so on. Why the **** do we manage to spend £70m on someone deemed unfit and lightweight? And why does it feel like it’s only and always Newcastle who do this? ****ing hire a sporting director today, please.

We don’t need another one, this one covers it.

What does it cover? Are you using it like an elastoplast?

Well, I mean, Liverpool spent £125m for Isak and have only started him once in 4 games now. Benched again today.

It's all sports science advice I think.. In all honesty I get on at Howe for this, but the reality is the managers get advised quite a bit.

This is the good thing about the likes of myself because we don't always just resort to presenting an ad hominem response when we consider other angles of the argument.

We're fair and the resting of players and selections is based on more than the information we have available, but this doesn't mean it's the right decision.

Exacrly. Managers of all clubs often rest players. If anything, Howe has been lambasted by some for NOT resting players. And then again when he does.
Reality is it's just all part of football management and knowing is actually match fit.

Now I do get the knocking of Howe for some tactical player selections. Tripps needs.phasing out, soon. And Barnes just needs to be benched. We have better options.

I get resting players when you have an adequate replacement.

But Gordon isn’t a striker. For me Woltemade should have started. But maybe he wasn’t fit enough.

I maintain I don't think he likes Hall though... I don't think he's part of his long term plans.

Change the two CB's and Newcastle will improve dramatically at both ends of the pitch.. If the cbs want to sit deep because of a lack of pace, and fear of being exposed you get a big gap between the midfield and front 3.. Our midfield has to do too much helping the current cbs.

Agree. I don't want to see Gordon CF with Barnes LW ever again.

I don’t want to see Barnes ahead of Gordon ever again unless Gordon is not fit or needs subbed.

Barnes will probably start on Sunday and if Hall is left back he's going to get no help whatsoever and neither will the player chosen to play striker.

Elanga Woltemade Murphy would be better imo.

Yes I know. But once he’s available Gordon goes on the left.

Id actually go 532 against Bournemouth. They have our number and we could get botman and Thiaw on the pitch, get Barnes off it and would have zero need for trippier, whether it’s Murphy and Tino or Tino and Hall at wing back. Nick gets support from someone as well.

I’d try Willock on the left
