Yeah I was reading up on that. He has support supposedly and for the war of about 70% of the population, I think that was the highest figure I've seen, but was reminded to consider that it's actually illegal to speak ill of the war, so opinion is manipulated.
That's what I mean though, there's a sizeable amount of Russians who'd like him gone, and likely a silent majority who are afraid to show anything but support.
I know you didn’t. But how many of those Russians who ‘support’ Putin actually do, or only say they do because of the ramifications of dissent.
This is an interesting article Trying to save the historical artifacts from destruction in Gaza https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-e26c7357-09f8-42af-81ae-42cbaf04b593 I mean it's interesting if you're into that sort of stuff of course... Gaza has a history going back more than 5000 years, covering the Canaanites, Egyptians, Philistines, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Jewish Hasmoneans, Romans, Christian Byzantines and Muslim Mamluks and Ottomans A lot of these historical treasures are being lost to bombardment please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
The UK has officially recognised a Palestinian state. Here's Sir Keir Starmer's announcement in full. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cewnn8qe7wro I’m making Windy a ‘Two state cake’ to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Was waiting eagerly for this. It changes nothing in Palestine, abandons an ally whose hostages are still being held while at war, is a massive two fingers up to the Jewish community and he’ll still be despised by those he’s desperate to appease. They’ll despise him if Palestine does one day have a state. They’ll despise him if Palestine start another dozen wars from that state because pandering to them doesn’t work. So he’s essentially achieved nothing but demonstrate what a nothing grey man in an M&S suit he is. But some people will celebrate. They won’t really know what they’re celebrating and they’ll go back to frothing about Israel tomorrow. Meh.
Also the statement is meaningless waffle. I’d like to see the detail- borders and ****. Unless this is it and we just recognise some sort of vague idea of Palestine while saying Hamas are bad something something.
Unsurprisingly, I disagree - best way to get those remaining hostages back alive is an immediate ceasefire - best way to achieve a lasting, meaningful peace in the region is a two state solution ... which, hopefully, is what this 'recognition' helps to engender ...
You can hope for it all you want. Those inbreds won’t be able to help themselves before long. Legitimising them will change nothing.
Thankfully Brighton is gay enough to prevent Farage from taking advantage, but I’ll let Sir Keir know you’re not happy.
Or the actual root of the problem, Iran, could be dealt with. Which would be far too difficult in comparison to a few paragraphs of nothing for flannels like Starmer and Macron. I’m sure they’re buzzing for the long term peace that will definitely happen now.
