Good Morning. It's Friday 19th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Could the ER hierarchy be casting their eyes over Potter Speculation is mounting around Graham Potter’s immediate future at West Ham after odds on his sacking shortened dramatically over the past 24 hours, with bookmakers now pricing his departure at as low as 4/7. The Hammers currently sit just a point and two places below Leeds in the Premier League table; their sluggish start has reignited boardroom debates as to whether Potter is the right man to steer them away from the relegation battle. Rumours of a sensational return for Slaven Bilic, a former fan favourite in East London, have only heightened the sense of unease at the London Stadium. Potter’s managerial career has long been a source of debate. At Brighton, he earned plaudits for his tactical acumen and ability to nurture talent, turning the Seagulls into a stylish, progressive side. However, his subsequent spell at Chelsea ended in disappointment and exposed questions over his suitability for the demands of elite-level management. West Ham’s current struggles have done little to ease those concerns, with fans voicing frustration over inconsistent performances and a lack of clear identity on the pitch. For Leeds fans, the situation raises an interesting question - would Potter represent an upgrade if he were suddenly available? While his philosophy might appeal to Elland Road’s desire for attacking, possession-based football, Daniel Farke has thus far steadied the ship, providing defensive structure and cohesion with only limited support from the board. Swapping stability for uncertainty in a manager under pressure could be an unnecessary gamble. For now, it may be wiser for Leeds to stick with Farke, while keeping a watchful eye on developments unfolding elsewhere. All this could change very quickly if Leeds were to lose to Wolves at the weekend. Leeds, who have shown defensive discipline and a combative midfield under Daniel Farke, continue to suffer from inconsistency and a lack of cutting edge in the final third. That frailty was all too evident in their heartbreaking defeat at Fulham, where a late own goal denied them a precious point. Wolves, meanwhile, remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table as the only side yet to record a single point. However, their spirited display against Newcastle offered a glimmer of encouragement, and the club’s decision to hand head coach Vitor Pereira a new deal may serve to galvanise their squad. Sutton believes that confidence boost could be the difference in a fixture where both teams are desperate to kick-start their campaigns. Wolves will be without star striker Jorgen Strand Larsen through injury, an absence that further highlights their attacking limitations, but Sutton has backed them to edge past Leeds nonetheless. For Leeds fans, the prospect of another blank return away from home is worrying, as momentum seems to be slipping. Relegation battles are rarely decided in September, but both teams will see the other as a massive opportunity for three points. Farke has been set a target of 38 points this season, and will need to get something from the game or moods regarding his tenure will change very quickly. “Wolves might feel they deserved something from their defeat at Newcastle last time out, after starting that game quite well, but that is nothing to how devastated Leeds will feel after losing out to a last-gasp own goal at Fulham. “That left Leeds without a point or even a goal on the road, while Wolves are without a point at all, so something has to give here. “Wolves are without the injured Jorgen Strand Larsen up front, which is a blow, but I am still backing them to win this one – maybe a new contract for Pereira will mean a new dawn for his team? 1-0.” please log in to view this image
Moring all No we should not sack Farke, not yet anyway. Potter felt he was too good for the Championship and here he is, struggling for the second consecutive time at top level, surely he would be a sideways step.
Potter an upgrade . Can't see a whole lot of goals in the wolves game. 1-0 probably right. Just hope its us snatching another last minute pen to grab the points Hopefully if we win at wolves the bs about sacking Farke will go away for at least a month. Its getting a bit daft at this stage
Yes sack Farke it's all his fault for the lack of quality signings. Farkes fault for the own goal at Fulham too as he played the fullback the 49ers signed. No idea what fans are expecting him to do without a fit striker or a creative mid. Also it was Farkes fault we nearly beat Newcastle.
I am no Farke fanboy but you cannot talk about sacking him at this stage. He deserves the chance and indeed earned the right to put his football philosophy into practice. He was backed with £100m beefed up the keeper, defence and midfield but let down up top. All will become plain and obvious by Xmas
Afternoon all.. Its a no from me regarding Potter.. Not the correct manager to replace Farke (If / when he goes). Nunez would be a great replacement imo. Overall, I cant see us sacking Farke until near Christmas if we are doing bad. It would be pointless to do it after a bad result against Wolves (I dont think we will lose this, but am at a loss on goals being scored), as its too early in the season. On paper Wolves look ****. No points this season yet, and missing their star striker. If we dont get at least a draw from this I will be astounded..
Look at the teams and their player investments they have made this summer, and show me two other teams that are weaker than Wolves?
What a great idea, sign a manager who is doing worse than Farke. Potter has to be one of the most overated managers in the PL. 1 (one) half decent season with Brighton. No, no and no ****ing way from me.
No easy games at PL level guys. Yes Wolves are bottom but they aren't **** by any means. They've played okay in a few games by all accounts. I watched the first game against Man City and they looked very good until they went 1-0 down and then their heads dropped. We've got to start fast against them and quieten the crowd and try and get their heads to drop. They will see this as a home game they should win just as much as us thinking we should be getting a result here. A win would be an excellent result but its not a given by any means.
We should be more worried about west ham trying to poach farke when they sack potter. He is certainly no magician but has created an illusion that he is a good PL manager.
