Just to be clear I at no point said it was embarrassing.... Charlie is making me look bad and in this occasion it's absolutely fallacious.
We weren't outclassed in any way because we were better than them in the first half and should have been ahead. The only time they were comfortable was when the second goal came out of the blue and knocked off our game. And even then we came back. We played Barcelona and were not outclassed, they needed a wonder goal to beat us.
I just said Eddie has to learn????? And he does. He keeps making silly mistakes like playing Gordon up front. It’s never worked once.
This. I agree with this. Gordon up top is crazy. We may have won the game with a striker and a strikers instincts. The fact we are a little grumpy about losing to Barcelona speaks volumes.
Woltemade had cramp in the last game and wasn't going to start. We have another option for this in Wissa, who is unfortunately injured right now. Apart from ballsing up the early chance, Gordon played well last night, and scored a strikers goal at the end.
That's your opinion Regardless you owe me an apology because you said I said it was embarrassing and I didn't. I don't expect you to apologise though because you didn't honour our bet the last time you spent your time taking the piss out of me on a subject I ended up being right about.
That’s likely because he was playing his natural game when Woltemade was on the pitch. Wissa being injured doesn’t help. Thiaw looked solid mind.
Oh, thought you did. Well if you're sure it wasn't you then fine, sorry, but someone did say it. But it the realms of what you definitely did say, we weren't outclassed by any means. They're a better team than us, but much of the match was very close.
Yeah but the finish was actually Gordon getting into a striker's position and doing a first time finish for once, rather than his usual run, cut in and shoot. Gordon can work on his finishing, he doesn't need to be written off yet, he took the goal well.
He did to be fair. But that miss. He naturally came forward because he want “trying” to play like a forward. He doesn’t have a forward brain. He’s not strong enough.
He does have a footballing brain cos he gets into the positions, he just needs to work on his first time finishing more. He's used to runs and then shots.
Apology accepted Lets just focus on Bournemouth and making the cut in the CL... Should be on on the latter..not confident about Bournemouth away.. Very difficult imo.
Bournemouth are literally the only Prem team Howe hasn't beaten since he's been here (we haven't beaten City and Liverpool in the league under him, but beat them in the league cup). They seem to have some jinx on him.
Goals win games. They only got 1 more than us and didn’t have a string of other clear chances created whereas I can remember at least 2 for us. That’s not outclassing someone no matter how you try to wum it
I think it went in phases. When we really went for them, they couldn't handle us. We just didn't have a natural goalscorer in the right place when in really mattered. Otherwise we would have been 2-0 before they'd had any real possession. But we can't play at that pace for 90 minutes and once they got a foothold we could barely get the ball off them. That's where the quality comes in. Their first touch, passing and movement is a different level to ours. Similar pattern 2nd half, although we finished strong after beeng lifted by Gordon's goal and it was quite an open game at the end. But those 2 goals from Rashford are probably among his best finishes in his career. Quality. But also one of those things where you can class it as fluke that he pulled off 2 great finishes in one game. When was the last time he did that? So outclassed? At times yes, definitely. But overall, I thought we gave them a tough game and on a different night (or with a different CF & LW) the scoreline could have been different.
I'd like to have played the side that finished the game plus Joelinton instead of Willock. It's gone now anyway all about Bournemouth.
Yeah, I'd maybe bring Hall in at LB too. I know he has been injured but he's been on the bench a few games now, so he must be ready to play.
I was only able to watch the last 30 minutes of the game due to being away. Looks like I missed our best play ... My observations from what I saw are that we played a brilliant passing team and we weren't outclassed by them. But yes, goals win games and Rashford might have scored the best goal of his life. It's fair to say that Howe's job wasn't made easy by Wissa's absence and the need to balance our energies and finite resources considering an important game on Sunday. I'd rather us win that one to be honest, and get the monkey off Howe's back.
