We’re either forever plucky or really want to give it a go. Most of the squad are plucky and happy to lose, and forgiven as they’re part of a “team that tries”.
We've won 1 game and it was a scrappy close affair at home to a side that's lost every game this season. We're not looking great so far guys
Mate come on, Barca have had decades of huge finances and success. We've had just under 4 years. Give it a chance man. The £500m you quote still puts us 7th in EPL spending in that time, let alone Europe. And we are playing all the Ashley years of catch up vs those who were spending big then as well. We had a standing start vs sprinters. I can see the flaws, but at least TRY to be balanced. FFS.
That’s the point here I think that most of us feel like Eddie got this one wrong. And that we could have won this. And it’s not the first time. But I also accept that we as fans think we know more than the manager and that’s why he’s getting paid millions and we are minions. it just feels like Eddie gets this wrong more than right but again we are on a journey. Maybe Eddie is the right man. But maybe……
We should never ever ever start Gordon as that position. He’s never ever delivered once because he’s terrible at it. The worrying thing for me is the fact that Eddie has tried it on multiple occasions and it’s now into the silly digits expecting it to make any difference. That’s a massive concern.
We won't get back in mate... We don't look great this season... We might get into the ko rounds this season
This fact will not go down to well with the cultists. Pre season was a warning sign that none of us…… well most of us….. well some of us. **** it…….. them didn’t see. The season needs to improve quick. Eddie isn’t bulletproof.
Agree, I wouldn't start him there. And I wouldn't start Barnes full stop. There are plenty of options to switch things around. But not, repeat NOT, Gordon at CF and Barnes LW.
I get that but we’ve spent £30m on a left back who can’t get in ahead of Trippier, £35m on two centre backs each who aren’t apparently better than Schar or Burn, £40m on the worst left winger I’ve seen at the club since Fabrice Pancrate, £55m on a striker who got injured in Africa, a place he’s going to for 6 weeks over winter, £70m on a striker deemed not fit enough to start a match ahead of Gordon and still have four players in the UCL from when Ashley was here!! Football is unfortunately borne of immediacy, for me at least, and whilst future-me might well be relishing in dominating Barca in a UCL final, present-me wants to see a team improved from the one that last finished bottom of a UCL group. There were so many parallels tonight from the team that got beat twice by Dortmund and lost at home to Milan. A start full of effort and bluff and bluster, petering out into a procession for the opposition who controlled the game. When Milan turned up and did a number on us, it was the same. For Barnes see Almiron, the result is the same. There’s a lack of progress from when we finished miraculously fourth in spite of hundreds of millions being spent.
I think what you’re saying which is quite right is there are more questions than answers. For example. For all the talent Eddie has at his disposal recently when has a sub he has made had a positive impact?
It’s pretty simple. Why do we keep spending money to improve the bench? Tell me one other club competing at the top who does this?
It’s simple tonight. Eddie ****ed up. Eddie does these **** ups. And will continue to do them. And he will be allowed to do them. Because he won a pot.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City in this country to name four. It's a squad not a bench or is that a bit beyond your comprehension of football?
Upgrading the first XI should always be the priority. That in turn upgrades the squad. Thats the way I comprehend it. Thats exactly what those teams did. How often have Zubamendi, Ekitike, Kerkez, Pedro, etc, sat on a bench waiting for a chance?
Hey Jimiley, long time. Good to see you posting again. Although sad it took Roly ranting to bring you out of retirement.
