There is no need to tax anyone more in this country. We just need to stop wasting money. That is the only common sense I want to see.

A recent economic study showed how starkly inneficient we were with our tax income against some of out European friends. Mind you, we werent the worst, but we fall some way short of what is needed.

Not true. The top end wealth is eating our available money and as the cost of living goes up more rely on affordable services. There’s an argument for efficiency as always but since Covid the balance of the share has got out of control. The middle pay too big a share we can agree on that but it shouldn’t be from the middle. The top end are taking the piss. Tax their assets. They own too many. Others don’t own any and need stability.

    Ha! It's like this roughly.

They use off peak electricity to freeze the air. Using tanks about the size of a semi detached house. The air is reduced to about one six hundredth in volume, like they do with LPG. This air is stored in flat containers, roughly two feet high and ten feet by sixteen feet. These can be stored at normal atmospheric pressure.

At a given time this air can be released, and the force drives a turbine. This can be scaled up quite easily.

Company is called High view. From Bury.

On the mine in Cumbria. The coal was intended specifically for the Steelworks. Miiliband shut off the project, boasting about it in parliament.

About six months later, he was boasting in parliament again. This time that he had been able to buy 70,000 tons of coal from Japan. For the same steelworks that would have used coal from the mine he stopped!

The level of ignorance, incompetence and zealotry is enough to make an old wooden statue weep copious tears.

Good news. It will go some way to defer BP pulling about £200bn worth of investment. Most of which will go to Norway.

    Some governments know.

We have the most expensive electricity in the developed world. It has cost of hundreds of thousands of jobs, and more to come. No chance Nissan will be here in ten years, probably gone in less. Our electricity is going to soar in price when it is already four times that in the US and two to three of that in Europe. And we have greater resources than most of them.

No country, that is no country in the world is approaching this issue like us. Spain has no natural resources, yet gas there is half the price.

The people making decisions are insulated from the consequences of their ideology, as are people who have developed their lives, those of us who are older.

Young people, will pay. Poor people will pay. They don't buy heat pumps, but pay the subsidy on them in their bills.

    Reasoning?

The bloke is a zealot. A millionaire's son, obsessed with one issue. He enjoys a pat on the back when he goes abroad. I'm afraid you can't reason with a man like that, which is why he is kept well away from the public glare.

It is completely true, well in my opinion.

In the last 25 years, of Labour and Conservative ineptitude, out % of GDP on public soending has gone from 35% to 45%. That is a hideous metric and outstrips any other G7 country.

We waste billions on vanity projects every year (Tories HS2 is a white elephant). We have governments how hoy money down the drain (Labour followers - PIF is still a millstone). Our tax income is plenty, but only if we have competent people running the show. Hard is it may be to hear, neither this or the last Labour government were competent, nor were the last Tory one. They waste our money hand over fist.

Your obsession with taxing the rich is the shortest of short term fixes. Our kids will already blame us, but if we do what you say they will double down on that blame.

I think they got the infrastructure wrong. We have wasted some. Not denying that. Sunderland are good in the market but still sign Poveda. Hs2 not needed but more lines needed east to west up north and midlands. More lines needed in rurally deprived and coastal so they can earn. More trams and better buses. Cheaper public transport. Many young adults can’t afford cars because of the cost of living. Or rent or houses. Foreign millionaires and English millionaires hoover homes up, air b and b them and profit from them, so a big proportion of people need help to live decently and travel cheaply. We get that right we go down way to reduce the sticky youth unemployment issue and it benefits our economy. Not spending on services ends that. I’m correct on that. I hear it every day. The rich get more rich from housing, travel, water, leisure, food, you name it. Every step you take. Every turn. They own them all that top layer of society, they are only just being asked to pay a better wage to workers and the strugglers still go up in number. We get reform the profits go up and the wages go down and we’re in deeper ****. Watch. When people struggle and fail health, welfare and crime costs increase not go down and Farage will charge for it. Fact. If we don’t claw some back and create and easier life for people we go back to Covid Britain, more beggars, less safety, less wellness.is that what you want ? Get the cash in, make it easier for normal people , invest in cheap travel to give people a chance, build genuinely affordable homes to give our young people a life, some affordable activities to get there, hope.
The top 1/5 own two thirds of all wealth in the uk and have 36% of uk income
The bottom fifth own 0.5% of wealth and 9% of the UK income.
The ‘how to’ in giving that bottom third and the third above it and the one above it some stability and hope lies in the excesses and greed of the top group.

Brexit has ruined our economy and seen record immigration. It’s been a disaster for our country.

The investment is down to Starmer dancing with the devil but surprisingly you don’t want to give any credit. :) Sir Kier will need a good shower tomorrow night but at least we get some investment for our economy. Great news for SE Northumberland in particular.

Who owns our energy companies? Who profits from them ? It isn’t our government. France is one of the main ones. There’s a quick way to drop some prices … drop some profits

£150billion worth of investment thanks to Starmer over the past couple of days. All good news though little credit from the blinkered right. :)

If there is less investment in fossil fuels so it defect our kids futures either climate change up live with that.
