They certainly didn't come across well and, frankly, leaving such young kids alone like they did is 'criminal neglect' IMO ... but watch that doc if you get a chance ... that bloke is completely ****ed up ... and has a rather classic psychopath back story ...
I've never defended Christian B to my knowledge, because I accept he's ****ed up in the head. Just a convenient excuse for the parents and the cops or actual reality and even if we accept the latter, as you've pointed out still the matter of neglect to contend with, and as they've not been charged with that crime i will always be looking at the parents as much as any suspect.
He eventually got charged with the rape of a 72 year old lady in her algarve house - he'd also raped a much younger Irish woman in the algarve around the same time but the police failed to take DNA evidence despite her reporting the rape ... ****ing unbelievable... so he only served 7 years for the old lady which he has now served and is out again ... the doc is mind boggling in terms how he evaded the law ... also seems to have played the extradition (or lack of it) game to maximum effect ...
I think some psychologist was suggesting Christian B will go on to commit another crime, because he will not change within his mind. For me I suppose it comes down to how much does he want to stay out of prison, how much does he value his freedom or will his mindset be the greater urge, sadly unless they can prove something he goes free. Not sure when the restraints are lifted, if ever lifted.
The conspiracy theories are very much that the McCanns killed her or were somehow involved with her disappearance ...and certain things they did do seem suspicious... and I've little time for them as parents... ... but this guy is on a whole different level ... watch the doc
He's compulsive ... he was charged with exposing himself to a kid or kids in Germany only to do it to another whilst he was awaiting trial - criminal psychologist commented that he was very dangerous as he acted on impulse with little control ...
Well for now he has to report to probation, he;s got a tag, his passport has been surrendered, he has to notify the authorities of any address he stays at, not much else they can do due to the incompetent ability to find something to prosecute him on, and if he's as bad as you suggest (I never said I didn't believe you) then that makes the authorities even more incompetent.
Christian B like with the parents, you have to prove it, and failure to do that would probably seem impossible these days, but the length of the passage of time don't help.
He ran a kiosk in a German town after the McCann disappearance... apparently the new investigation was being shown on the TV there and he flipped, switched it off screaming "She's dead, she's dead... pigs will eat human flesh" ... Most damning thing was phone text conversations between him (under a made up fantasy name) and another ***** discussing opportunities to abduct a child and film both torture and sex acts before 'getting rid' ... truly shocking stuff - plain evil...
Sadly mate the prosecution have to prove that. Again not doubting what you are saying....pigs would seem a reasonable explanation to no evidence of a body, but I did think she is probably not in one piece, which the thought process comes from the lack of a body, short of fish feasting, but you still normally find something in the latter. Thinking of that woman that fell in the lake.
