I have two opinions. One is that I sincerely doubt it’s happening and the other is that if it is I genuinely don’t care. At best Jews get some hollow words for five minutes with the customary “but Israel deserved it really because of x, y and z” so they can get in the bin just as they’d feel about me.

What makes you doubt it's happening ? Anybody who says Israel deserved it needs binning off. There's no room for entertaining that kind of warped thinking. How can this sort of persecution be tolerated against innocent people, if as a Jew you are aghast at the persecution that was metted out by Hamas on Oct 7th ? I genuinely don't see how the two are compatible.

It’s not Hamas trying it I’m aghast at. They (and Hezbollah, Houthis and the rest) are to be expected. It was the sheer lack of “humanity”, the word of the day, in response. The public celebrations, the lack of accountability for people continuing to cheer them on the streets of this country two years later but even more the people who know that’s a bad look so make excuses for it instead. The UN and other major organisations like Amnesty have shown scant regard for Israel or its citizens throughout this. They’ve demonstrated they’re powerless and now they’re simply windmilling.

I think the celebratory nature after Oct 7th was repulsive, although I will caveat that with the notion that an attack on Israel after decades of persecution was probably seen as a small 'fight back' initially and that's probably what was being celebrated. That said, I think if those people who were on the streets celebrating actually witnessed the brutality and depravity of what actually occurred, they would find it as abhorrent as anybody with a conscience. What has followed in Gaza since though, has been every bit as depraved. And it's clear that its nothing to do with Israel defending itself and everything to do with enacting retribution on an entire population, who had nothing to do with Oct 7th and are simply being targeted because they are Palestinian. The scale of death and destruction, and the particularly targeted way the IDF have murdered women, children, medical workers, doctors, journalists etc and used depraved sexual violence, humiliation and torture against innocent people demonstrates the mentality at work. As for here in the UK, I don't think people take to the streets to cheer for Hamas, if those people knew the depravity at work on Oct 7th, there's no way they would be cheering for that stuff. They protest against the Israeli response and the ongoing occupation, and the UK and US complicity with enabling Israel to continue with what is ethnic cleansing.
You underestimate how many people are brought up to unambiguously despise Jews and the bigger number, in this country, of mental lefties pining for the West to fall and dreaming of what they think that would bring. They knew what they were celebrating and there was mass lobbying against Israeli retaliation before a bullet had been fired. The only acceptable response to these people is rolling over and accepting it if not rewarding Palestinians (far more than Hamas decided they fancied a bit of it) for their attack. And the authorities largely let these people spew their bile with no consequences because they’re terrified of what happens if they don’t appease them.

I'm not disagreeing (much) with the other piece you've posted, but this just takes the piss. Bombs hitting a sperm donation clinic is an act of genocide? Does that mean everyone who has a cheeky **** every now and then is a war criminal?
