Exactly this. This doesn’t help https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOZHchnDQD_/?igsh=MXVpcjA1bXI3aGZkeg== Former conservative member trying to suggest the rise of reform isn’t partly down to unfair news coverage. That’s what you get when rich people put the lean on. They expect to get their way.
I'm on regular medication that requires blood tests every three months to keep my Crohn's disease under control. I've seen stories of people in America who are trapped because they lost their jobs and lost their insurance. They cannot afford the medication and blood tests, but they also cannot work to pay for it as their disease is not controlled. I would hate to be in that situation.
It was inefficient when my Dad was bed blocking. He'd had a stroke, was paralysed and we needed a ton of equipment to look after him at home. We had a care meeting where it was decided that he needed x, y and z. However each piece of equipment was ordered by a different person and we had stuff like a bed arrived but someone else had forgotten to order the mattress. Then the sling for the hoist arrived but it took another week or so for the hoist to arrive and so on. It would make more sense if there was a central place where someone could go and say Becs Dad needs........., then it could all be ordered and delivered in one go. All the delays caused by the equipment coming in dribs and drabs extended the time he was bed blocking in hospital.
Pleased to see he has found a vouce. All progressive politicians have to work together to attack this far right wing US led cancer coming into British politics.
Same with brother now,had stroke, only left hospital couple of weeks ago because waiting bed hoists etc. Could of been out a couple of months ago.
Can understand the frustration. I think the internal market was far too burdensome, hopefully the new reforms and extra funding that is coming will start to make a real difference. On a smaller scale I’m using the nhs at the moment and it has been a fairly good experience. People supporting Farage need to be careful what they wish for because his backers want much smaller government and our NHS is right in their sights. His low income backers form disadvantaged areas will be the ones that will suffer the most sadly.
There should be government help still for the vulnerable people in society. Id never want to take anything away from the vulnerable, just the people that abuse the system.
They’re properly integrating health and social care in the new plan. Away from the headlines (I’m not a fan of AI) the ten year strategy is impressive. We need to give it the time to work and not elect someone who’ll give it to American corporations.
"Yesterday (there was) the news that Elon Musk is going to be the first trillionaire in the world," he said. "What does that mean and what's that about? If that is the only thing that has value anymore, then we're in big trouble." Who said this ?
Wonder what happened to centre left or centre right politics, The world seemed to be a safer and more "at ease" place..What happened to make people think that either Far Left or Far Right extremism is the way to go. Just pleased I am in my late 60's... Not sure what world we will have in 20/30 years time, I fear for my grandkids
Genuine question. What would you class as far left? Stuff like just stop oil? Or something else. I ask the question because I wonder if old labour values - redistribution of wealth, protecting jobs for example would be classed as far left these days. I sometimes wonder if we’ve gone so much into free market capitalism, the stuff I yearn for is classed as wild
It just seems to me that free market capitalism means everything is produced cheaper in China. So in the UK, USA etc most working class folk are left with either no job or a poor paying job. Hence in the UK the use of Universal Credit etc has soared. Fertile ground for extremism from both wings
This is just my take on Far Left policy, so, an over emphasis on government interference on peoples day to day life. Over taxation, No pro business agenda, Policy that would hinder the free market economy. There are many other examples that are freely available on Google...but these are the issues that would concern me.. I am a social capitalist... I believe in a free market economy that promotes freedom for business to grown domestically and internationally. However, I do do believe that there are certain things that any civilised country HAS to provide for their citizens... Electric, Water, Health and education....all of these should be under Government control. Never gonna happen I know, but its just my humble opinion
