Didn't they can him because the new owners wanted to instigate a data driven approach combined with AI? Wilder (obviously) didn't want to play and they canned him for a coach who would allow them to use AI. A transfer policy dreamed up by owners who don't have a clue about football or probably even how to implement a data driven approach is the very definition of "**** around and find out". My guess is they've gone back to him to steady the ship after club insiders and players lobbied for him. It's an absolute ****-show.
Yeah I remember that now. It's likely they got rid because he wouldn't go all in on the AI side of things, which I can understand. AI has its uses, so has data and statistics, but if it's not used correctly it's worse than useless. As a stats lecturer I had at Uni said, "put rubbish in, get rubbish out". If they've gone whole hog on that and got it wrong, it could take a lot to put right. In a funny way he might be better off not taking it, because if what they've done recruitment wise is bad he could be on a hiding to nothing if it doesn't really improve.
It looks like a marriage of convenience where they're putting up with each other to achieve a common aim. But there's got to be animosity and hidden issues / agendas between them all - and probably no trust. He'll want to go back to "prove he was right". It's a truly ridiculous situation.
Wilder bottled automatic promotion, bottled it at Plymouth and bottled the final at Wembley ... ... no PL side will ever appoint him.
I think Martin's a cert....wouldn't include Emery at the minute, not sure about the others but they're all in danger.
Be gobsmacked if Emery is at risk. **** start aye but he’s done magnificent work for them, they will come good. Hopefully after Sunday like.
Villa are the only team in the entire football leauge ( including non league) not to score a league goal this season
Understandable after 4 0’s but you’d be mad to jump that fast in a manager that’s done so much. They’ll come good Emery is a superb gaffer.
This time next week they will still be the only team in the football league who have failed to score a league goal.
