Its fantastic. I just hope that Regis and the staff have learned some lessons from last season where we tailed off dramatically. Saying that, I reckon 9 wins is enough to stay up. We've already got 2 of them.
What an odd post. We literally got promoted by winning (or drawing) the last 3 games. The season was ultimately perfect.
Fair enough, just meant that last season we started off brilliantly and were flying. It wasn't maintained, and if there was any reason for that (such as fitness, lack of subs, training drills, physio etc), I hope that it might be considered. Not knocking last season's form in the slightest and wasn't meaning the end of the season - just the form on late Autumn where we started slipping back
Maybe the teams who had parachute payments and all the money to assemble squads took a bit longer to settle. In reality, we finished the highest of all teams without parachute payments in the EFL. I think that is something to be proud of, rather than looking for negatives. We got promoted. We are 7th in the Premier League after 4 games Anything you can think of about fitness, tactics, training etc has already been discussed a million times over by the professionals.
It was mainly injuries (along with a generally small squad causing fatigue) that led to our form falling off a bit in the second half of last season. Losing Mundle and Watson meant we lost width on the wings and became quite predictable since we also couldn't rely on Roberts to contribute often either. Losing Brown meant that there was very little rotation on the midfield so they couldn't afford to press like crazy since the midfield 3 had to play 90 minutes nearly every game. At least that was my general read on it. Shouldn't be too much of a problem this season as we do have 2 players for nearly every position and probably an additional player who can cover as well if needed (e.g. Mayenda can play on the right if needed).
Mukiele made me laugh and simultaneously filled me with confidence yesterday, "And everyone knows that he's a good striker, and, yeah, today I just saw that I'm also a good defender.” Seriously, when was the last time we had players confident enough to say things like that in the Premier League ... ... dunno where KLD bought this fairy dust but he can sprinkle a little my way.
He appears to be flavour of the month coming into the premiership so the confirmation bias will be strong !
