Usually clubs are not willing to sell their best players, but if the agent and the player are making life difficult for the club , club have no option but to agree a fee usually above the market value. Over the past ten years this type of move had happened in the premiership two concluded and one is on going. 1.NICOLA ANELKA-Arsenal are not willing to let him go, they just won the title, his agent got to his head and convinced him that Real Madrid is better than Arsenal, he can win more and more trophies with them.Anelka's mind was made up,Wenger had no choice but to let go.Arsenal fans love Anelka but the price was right and off he went. Anelka gone to Real Madrid and hardly get games. He was just making up the numbers at Real Madrid. He eventually came on loan to Liverpool and ended up in Chelsea.Only God knows what would happen if he stayed put at Arsenal.? 2.FERNANDO TORRES- All Liverpool players were excited when he came to Liverpool during the regime of Rafa Benitez. He was becoming a cult figure, just like the love and support currently being accorded Suarez. To the credit of then American owners they provided the money to buy Torres.Torres later concluded that Liverpool cannot match his ambition. Kenny Dalglish and every one connected with Liverpool were disappointed. No one wanted him to leave Liverpool, but his body languages has been communicating that he was no longer interested to stay at Liverpool. He said he wanted a bigger club that could match his ambition-where the grass his greener.Liverpool had to put a price of £50m on him before he was allow to leave for Chelsea during last January transfer market Since his move to Chelsea he is not looking like Torres that played for Liverpool. Now there is a rumour that Chelsea are willing to cut their losses and allow him to leave for less than half of what they paid for him.Where is he going to end now.? Back to Liverpool some current speculation.?.Some Liverpool fans are even willing to forgive him.Who knows.? 3.CARLOS TEVEZ- He moved to Manchester City from Manchester United after the end of his loan spell with United.Who is to question the judgement of Sir Alex Ferguson now for refusing sign him on permanent basis?.He refused to play in the champion league group stage.Where is he going to end.? Not on the cheap according to Manchester City.Italy or Tottenham because I understand 'Arry wants him perhaps he can tame him. This Saga continues.
Michael Owen - Left Liverpool for more trophies at Madrid but ends up sat on their bench. The following season Liverpool win the European cup and Owen is looking for a move back to England. He signs for a declining Newcastle, who after a few seasons are relegated. He then signs for United, wins a league title, but barely plays. He is unable to get back in the England team and who knows what will happen next. Robbie Keane - Leaves Tottenham for Liverpool for big money, in search of more trophies. Keane struggles to settle or form a partnership with main striker Torres. He struggles to win over the Liverpool fans and is sold back to Spurs six months later for a reduced fee. Liverpool finish second in the League. Since his return to Spurs Keane struggled to get back in the first team and had to loan spells, one with West Ham, one with Celtic. His career hasn't been the same since. I don't even know where he is now... Maybe Wolves? Shaun Wright Phillips - He was building a great career at Man City and getting games for England. He was becoming a fan favourite. But he chose t make a big money move to Chelsea, where he struggled to get games, lost his place for England and slipped out of the public eye at the most crucial point of his career. Eventually he decides to move back to Man City, but they are now a rich, and very different club, with exciting new players. He struggles to get games and moves to QPR, where he has rescued his career and is doing very well. Almost scored a great goal for us at the weekend.
other than the fact that anelka moved to chelsea and played a huge part i nmany trophy wins plus picked up a cl winners medal at real.... well other than that i might agree ending up at bolton was a bit of an oops. the ultimate self destruct should be someone like mutu or bosnich for their antics with illegal substances or don hutchison for us for dancing on tabels with his kecks down... in the end everyone so far quoted all made a fortune each and every move they've made and if thats what you want and not trophies then i don't see the self destruct.... owen, money, tevez, money, anelka money.... for the record keane is in la galaxy.... all those moves = massive signing on fees and wages and do you think he gives a flying monkeys about spurs or trophies? i don't. bosnich was probably the ultimate self destruction story for me.
yeah...actually there are a few guys who signed for city under hughes for the big money who everyone just knew would be out if the side in6months... bellamy is one example.
Robbie Keanes in LA, he's already won 2 trophies and got a favorable draw in the CONCACAF Champions league.
How many clubs has Obafemi Martins jumped to? He has a big big signing from Inter for Newcastle I believe (?) and then he just did not do it. Rumors of his age being wrong ( Celeste Babyaro aid he went to HS with him..... Babyaro was like 8 years older than him!).
