Just read the last couple of pages, usual dozy guff about Joseph and Slater, both of whom had good games. But I’ll tell you what our problem in midfield is - Lundstram. After a couple of really good games at Cov and against Oxford he has dropped right off. He had the reactions of a sunflower and opposition players just waltz past him - that how they scored their first goal. can’t wait for Gyabi to get fit and line up against Amir, because right now JL is a bit of a liability.

I do think we need to go to a 4-3-3 against stronger opposition so we aren’t overrun in midfield and can keep the ball better. If it means playing Gelhardt on the right or dropping him entirely then so be it. Southampton have a similar shape to Brizzle so how we set up initially will be key. Hadžiahmetović as the deepest midfielder and Slater/Gyabi and Lundstram slightly ahead of him.

I thought Hadziahmetovic was tidy. Lovely weak footed pass to set Giles away for the equaliser. Broke play up well in the first half, drifted in the second
Their possession game at home was always going to mean it wouldn't be a particularly open game but we made more of the possession we had. From their point of view it would have been reminiscent of watching us under Rosenior - generally somewhat successful with the majority of the ball, but don't do enough with it and then have their pants pulled down later on in the game. That's probably a bit disrespectful to our lads as I do think we could and possibly should have won that game. I'm far more concerned about the cock ups leading to us conceding than our ability to make stuff happen at the top end of the pitch, but it should hopefully come.
Lundstrum was an absolute boss against cov. It’s the only game I’ve seen in full so far this season but he was everywhere, always in the right place at the right time to snuff out an enemy invasion before they got a chance to launch a direct assault onto the goal. A bit surprised that he hasn’t been close to doing that since. Change in role/tactics possibly?
Really deserved the goal, kept pushing. Don't think we had too many poor performers although Hughes positioning for their second was really poor. Had a good all round game though. Ndala bright off the bench might be best role for him for now.
