I’m still not convinced our players are fit enough. Other than the subs they look knackered, like they’re running in porridge. Half of them are walking everywhere.
Terrible performance, totally undeserved point. That’s the worst I think I’ve seen us play in a very long time. So negative. We weren’t even that solid defensively despite the scoreline, which flatters to deceive - it was pretty much only heroics from Darling and a couple of sharp reactions from Kovacevic which kept the scoreline down
Didn't watch it, stats say everything though. Thoroughly depressed with this manager and knapper. Want them both gone in favour of people who are creative and have ideas. This team is only going one way under this manager ....mediocrity. We might as well change our name to Stoke City. After the great stuff Thorup had us playing we have spent 20 million to produce this rubbish. Disgraceful.
Coventry are certainly an in form team carried over from last season, but only 4 of their 27 shots were on target. Their defence was picked apart at the back for Kvistgaarden's goal, which was taken well, something they failed to do throughout. Yes, Wright managed to toe poke the ball in at the end but clinical they were not. We defended well, something we didn't do last season, but our main weakness was our passing yet again. It was a hard fought point against all the odds and I'll take that.
The problem is this team played how Manning wants it to play. There is no progression to come from this. There is no next step. If you play defensively and defend well then my point is ..... so what. The guy has signed 2 defensive, midfield long ball merchants. It tells us all exactly who he is and his priorities I haven't felt this dejected about the team since the awful Chris Hughton and what he turned us into. Its happening again. English managers, the lowest of the low.
To give the full picture, 28 in all, according to WhoScored; "on target" 4; "off target" 9, including one that hit the woodwork; the remaining 15 were blocked.
We had 6 new players in our starting lineup today and it will take time for them to gel the way Coventry have. I'll wait and see what these new players can do over the remaining 41 games.
Apologies CS, in fairness to WhoScored, the term they use is "Pass Success" (more usually referred to as "Pass Completion"). "Accuracy" was my in the heat of the moment paraphrase. I agree about Ratings. At the very least, web sites that publish them should be obliged to make the algorithm used public. Since most of them are betting sites, there's little chance of that!
