Finally managed to register on here as a fully fledged member rather than as a guest (Thanks for those who sorted this for me!). Now I know there will be a few skeptics when it comes to transfer rumours (I was one of many when it came to Rocketswaine's predictions on the bbc 606) but as I have a strong family connection to the individual concerned I thought I should mention that Saints have tabled a £3m bid for Lucas Jutkiewicz to join in January. I know we have continually been linked, but it was all nonsense and nothing was discussed with Coventry until November and it was simply his agent trying to play up a move as he is homesick (well wouldn't you be in Coventry!).
Not excited by this there are far better strikers in the championship than him. Personally, I hope and think its not true.
I think he has raw talent but agree he is not premier league standard, although I rate him more than Maynard. He did well at Motherwell but struggled at Huddersfield, but found his feet at Coventry. Did see him miskick a clear shot on target a few months back in a game that even I could have tucked away!
When you say strong family connections how do you mean? Only ask because his sisters a teacher at my school...
I wouldn't be disappointed with Jutkiewicz, but would be if we paid £3m for him. Aren't Coventry on the edge financially?
I couldn't disagree more with the above posts. He's only 22, so there's no point talking about his scoring record in previous seasons. He's scored more this season than Sharp, Rodriguez and Maynard, AND he's younger than all of them, AND he plays for an arguably worse team than all of them, AND he'd probably be cheaper than all of them, AND HE'S A SAINTS FAN! To me, that sounds like a perfect signing. Having said that, I don't believe the post. If it were true, there is no reason you couldn't be more specific about how you know this. Still a realistic target though and I hope it happens.
I dont rate him, never have and never will. Would much prefer Maynard or Rodriguez. Not bothering about Sharp as he wont move, understandably.
Need I remind you of this?
One goal doesnt make a great striker, no matter how good it is. I feel Maynard will thrive more at Saints.
