That would be nice but I'm honestly not a arsed in the slightest if we don't perform well. A win is all that matters. These games are often tight and cagey.
My grandfather (Royal Navy during and post WWII) was of the generation of those who supported both sides at Fratton Park and The Dell on alternate weeks rather than travel to away games. I reckon you will do us at least 3-0. Given the vast gulf in the two teams' budgets, anything near to a point for us would be a hell of an achievement. Let's hope the game passes without any trouble from the neandathol element (from both sides)
There is of course a huge gulf between the team's budgets (which is why nothing but a win will do for us) but the timing of the game suits you much more as you have a very settled squad whereas we've had lots of changes in the last week of the window. Pretty sure there'll be no trouble as the bubble basically removes the opportunity for it. Suspect there'll be some back and forth missiles in the ground which is of course still incredibly scummy but I don't see any proper disorder happening.
We must play the game, and not the occasion. Get right in their faces from the start, and don`t give them any encouragement. 2-0 Saints!
Yeah my Dad primarily supported Saints but was always pleased to see Pompey win c WW 2, I've only been to Pompey a coup[e of times and one of those visits was when he took me to Fratton Park. 3-1
My dad was the same, served from 1937 - 1953 and whenever his ship was in Portsmouth he would go and watch whoever was playing at home. I think it was the fact that some of the family, particularly his brother-in-law’s folks, lived around Southampton, that finally made him a Saints fan, but he never hated Pompey, that is a relatively modern thing.
I am nervous about this one. The argument about the familiarity of the Portsmouth team is well worth making. On the basis of this, the unfamiliarity of our new players and recent performances at St.Marys , I think we are the underdogs but still expect a draw.
Nervous but somewhat confident. This time tomorrow hopefully we’ll be celebrating a significant win. COYR
I feel sick. Not helped by my good lady telling me how amazing Portsmouth is as a city. I'm considering a split, to be honest.
