yep, public transport in uk is disgraceful
why would people choose not to drive when its far more expensive and less reliable?

You ain't gonna solve traffic congestion without providing viable alternatives to driving.

Hull really is an ideal place to take inspiration from what the Dutch do.

I noticed in Belgium last year that the trains were sort of shabby and old-looking, and covered in graffiti. From the outside you'd think they're worse than ours. But as you'd expect, they were on time, efficient and much more spacious than ours inside. It seemed like they have different priorities.

The punctuality of German trains is poor. :emoticon-0138-think

European railway experience last week, Munich to Salzburg return on DB, 44 euros for two return, helpful ticket office lady got us a special deal, the express full price was 77 euros, 19 direct trains a day, modern comfortable train, full but no one standing outward. Return was fuller with about 10 having to stand in our carriage including day cyclists off the Alps with their bikes on so not everyone gets a seat. Border security on return with every train held and locked down at Freilassing station where German police walk along the train checking but didn't ask for passports, the station also had high fencing both sides of the track not at any other station, curiously no flags at the border. Munich Hauptbahnhoff central station having a massive rebuild, EU money? S-bahn and U-bahn in Munich very modern and easy to use.

We used the S-bahn but didn't realise you have to validate the tickets, the inspector that boarded wasn't impressed and took our passport details down, no further action though, bloody tourists. :emoticon-0138-think

I always try to use public transport when abroad. People arrive at a city airport and head straight for the taxi's, maybe paying £40. Same trip on bus or metro about a quid.

I’ve had my bridge tag for 8 years
Gets topped up automatically when it gets down to a fiver
For some reason my accounts been closed and been charged for four crossings of the bridge
I’ve rung them, waited 20 minutes on the phone, and got given an email to ask them to reinstate
Only it’s the wrong email address!!
So now emailed the right email
Anyone else had this happen? Got to wait 60 days while they look at it!!!

People need to check their accounts occasionally. I have been charged for other cars numerous times. It actually shows the reg numbers on the list so it's obvious. Not sure how it can happen. A few years ago someone came out of a side street in Barton into the side of my sports car which was my pride and joy. A write off and it was towed to a place in Hull. I forgot to take the tag out at the time and by the time I remembered I had been charged for a bridge crossing for my car and the tow truck :emoticon-0101-sadsm

12 years apparently, but we have since had Grenfell so all the rules have been tightened up.

Regulations changed in 2018/2019 and all buildings obliged to get it removed if it didn't meet new regs. I know because my flat in the UK has had it done last year. I had to pay £5k on top of my service charge for a top end fire alarm system, 2 months of waking watch until London fire brigade signed it off and increased insurance premiums for the last five years. The new cladding was paid for by the original developer (but not the costs for the waking watch and fire alarm) and it got signed off as ok and received an ESW1 certificate in July, and premiums reduced accordingly.

Is drypool bridge really that important to the city's traffic? Don't use it at rush hour times but it always seems quiet when I do use it.
