I’ve played with him. University football in Newcastle - after he got bombed out by Gateshead. He was ****e for us as well.
Im pretty sure he told Southampton he was George Weah’s nephew. He could control a ball further than I could kick it.
His name was Ali Dia....Which might be made up or maybe not. I guess they'd have to if they gave him a contract, but I don't know what was written in it. Here's some vid of him in action!!! Ali Dia - Sunday league player who got to the premier league (Southampton) I hope the brains team get him signed up..He's looks good to me!
Jao Mendes (son of Ronaldinho) has been included in Hull City’s confirmed EFL squad today. James Furlong has been left out.
Here's City's squad in full Semi Ajayi David Akintola Mohamed Belloumi Lewie Coyle Matt Crooks Enis Destan Cody Drameh John Egan Akin Famewo Joe Gelhardt Ryan Giles Amir Hadziahmetovic Charlie Hughes Kyle Joseph John Lundstram Eliot Matazo Oli McBurnie Liam Millar Joel Ndala Kasey Palmer Ivor Pandur Dillon Phillips Regan Slater Brandon Williams (homegrown players in italics)
Under-21 contracted players Stan Ashbee Pharrel Brown Rocco Coyle Ed Devine Darko Gyabi Sammy Henia-Kamau Archie Howard Cathal McCarthy Joao Mendes Zane Myers Hugh Parker Harry Revill Tyrell Sellars-Fleming Aidon Shehu Nathan Tinsdale Harry Vaughan Noah Wadsworth Callum Yam
Most balanced squad we've had for a long time. Panda, Philips Coyle, Drameh Ajayi, Egan, Famewo, Hughes Giles, Williams Lundstram, Crooks, Gelhardt, Hadziahmetovic, Matazo, Slater, Palmer, Gyabi Akintola, Belloumi, Millar, Ndala McBurnie, Destan, Joseph + Tindsdale, Brown, Vaughan, TSF, McCarthy, Henia-Kamau, Shehu all capable of stepping up if needed (and arguably a few more in the pipeline not that far off). And with a manager (and 4 assistants) who just coach 'normal' football, rather than being tied to their unique philosophy. Someone did a nice graphic a short while back that nicely showed how we have 2 quality options now for every position (keeper possibly excluded?). It's actually much more than that in several positions. We 'just' need an overdue bit of luck, or at least normality, in terms of injuries this season.
Just to clarify, as the HDM headline was a bit mis-leading (no, really) .... 'Jao Mendes (son of Ronaldinho) has been included in Hull City’s confirmed EFL squad today' ....... it's the U21 squad that he's included in.
Don’t forget the bi annual solstice orgies. Or did you not get the premium package? I feel I’ve said too much.
I was trying not to mention that but yes certainly tips the balance never having to work again with that contract
João Mendes was a sub for Burnley U21 against us last December. Burnley fans seem to think he did ‘ok’ for their U21’s but clearly nowhere near the ability of his dad.
…further digging… He played a number of games for their U21’s as well as plenty off the bench. Burnley consider their U21’s to be of a very good standard and Mendes released because he didn’t quite make the grade. I don’t mind us giving him a chance to impress the U21 but not at the expense of someone else’s development. Hopefully the talk of a decent weekly wage isn’t true as he has done nothing in the game to earn this just yet. He should just be grateful for the opportunity.
