The fair trade off ultimately is a safe and secure Israel and a constraint free independent Palestine ....
Quite a bit of speculative nonsense from a certain someone this afternoon. Israel has been saying for ages that it will end the war if two conditions are met: 1) All hostages released at once, not drip-fed like last time 2) Complete disarmament of Hamas These conditions haven't been agreed to because 1) Hamas wants to stagger the release of hostages, you can speculate why it wants this with pleasure. 2) Hamas wants a Security Council resolution (i.e. the only piece of paper the UN can print that is actually worth the cost of the ink) guaranteeing that Israel will not resume hostilities against it at any time in the future. It basically wants an internationally ratified peace treaty with Israel, which goes way beyond a ceasefire. Unsurprisingly, I agree with @Saf. Hamas is in absolutely no position to be making these counter-demands, and if it cared one iota for the Palestinian people, it wouldn't be making them. But it doesn't, so it is.
The offer to release ALL of the hostages has been made several times over the last year. Along with Hamas disarming You will say ‘oh why trust hamas ?’ Counter to that, why trust Israel saying they will end the war, when everything they have done demonstrates that they won’t ?
Also this stance that ‘let’s blame everybody but the people who are actually killing Palestinians’ is myopic beyond belief
No surprise that Palestinians don't have much trust in a regime that directs them to designated 'safe zones' ... then bombs them... tbf
Trust is non-existant on both sides - which is why a peace settlement needs to be brokered by a neutral country or countries ... which don't get bombed whilst attempting it ...
Your first paragraph just isn't true. Hostage release has always been presented as gradual. Disarming has always been presented with a caveat of no future hostilities. Israel doesn't want either condition, understandably. As for talking about trust, you're right - neither side will ever trust each other until the end of time. In light of that, take the pragmatic and practical solution which is that hundreds of Palestinians are dying and will continue to die until the party that is currently in no position to make demands, stops making demands. It's quite simple.
To add to the above, this is what I naively hoped Trump would start changing on foreign policy. He views everything through the prism of a businessman, analysing what is practical and pragmatic instead of getting bogged down in hopelessly amorphous and subjective points like trust and blame. However, it turns out he's about as useful as a back line in an Ange Postecoglou team.
Jan 24 https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/featu...el-has-repeatedly-rejected-hamas-truce-offers April 24 https://www.timesofisrael.com/hamas...once-for-end-to-war-palestinian-official/amp/ Feb 25 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-israel-gaza-ceasefire-agreement-second-phase April 25 https://www.reuters.com/world/middl...return-an-end-gaza-war-hamas-gaza-2025-04-17/ On at least 4 separate occasions ALL of the hostages have been offered to be released. also Palestinians will die and continue to die because Israel are killing them. This simple fact is something that you and others try to obfuscate over
65k +slaughtered Mass displacement Starvation Ethnic cleansing Women and kids shot dead queuing for food Hospitals bombed Mosques bombed Schools bombed Refugee camps bombed People told to go to safe spaces and then slaughtered Medical workers targets Aid workers targeted Journalists targeted Whole communities wiped out Neighbourhoods levelled to the ground but somehow it isn’t Israel causing all of this ? some ****ing mental gymnastics going on to arrive at that conclusion.
Seriously Putin, did you have to send drones into Poland? Now we have a dangerous situation where NATO feels like it has to do something to save face- and whatever NATO does might prompt Russia to respond some more... I don't have enough Iodine pills for this kind of crap!
Save face? Some random robots lost their way and were popped out of the sky, they didnt even cause any damage. I think this is very overblown. I'll be a bit miffed if we go into WW3 because a couple drones crossed an invisible line due to their radars being jammed.
Btw I reckon as of this moment the Polish armed forces would probably smash the Russians, Poland aren't a joke.
Unfortunately often happens. One nation prods another, so the other nation has some irrational need to prod back harder to say "Hey, you can't prod me." I'm hoping this doesn't escalate but Poland appears more than a trifle pissed about this. Maybe, but I don't want to find out.
A bit miffed We’re facing Armageddon and you’re “a bit miffed”. Most British thing I’ve head all day. Well, when I say British, I’m referring to the days when Brits had backbone, and weren’t a bunch of emotionally incontinent ****ers.
I saw some were decoy drones, made to look like the real thing, but are used to waste enemy ammunition. I'm not sure of exact numbers, but for some reason I've got the figure 19 in my head, and most looped back round out across the border into Ukraine again.
Perhaps but Russia have already basically apologised and said they'll chat to Poland about it calm down old ninnies
People obviously forgetting that time Turkey actually shot down a manned Russian jet a few years ago and **** all happened.
