I think there’s been around 4-5 separate occasions now where Hamas have offered to release all of the hostages Let’s not forget that Benny also broke the ceasefire when Hamas were releasing hostages when will people join the dots ….
Hamas were never going to give up their last bargaining chip without 'a deal' - but they have committed to stand down and have no part in a future Gaza as part of a comprehensive peace deal ... Suspect Trump will now pounce on this and claim a 'victory', given that another strike on the remaining Hamas leadership in Qatar is now 'out of bounds' without compromising the US military presence in the middle-east... Benny's actions are also a bit of an own goal as they have seemingly strengthened UN resolve to seek not only the two state solution but also an immediate end to the deplorable weaponisation of aid to a starving population ...
It’s more than a bit disingenuous to leave out what Hamas wants in return which doesn’t scream disarmament and long term peace. They’re asking for something impossible to agree to from a position of extreme weakness.
Hamas are pretty much finished though, if Egypt and Qatar can help to rebuild Gaza and be involved in supporting the PA to establish proper governance, then there is no place for Hamas at all.
The people who make up Hamas now don’t just fade into the background working in office jobs and sitting in meetings about meetings though. Nor do the convicted murderers and terrorists they’d like returned.
There’s an issue about releasing prisoners, we talked about it the other day, part of the problem is that Israel have imprisoned thousands of Palestinians who have committed no crimes and have had no trial. So how you go about apply proper judicial process over that to separate out those that should be in prison is now a complete mess As for what’s left of Hamas, most of those you are now talking about are Hamas officials and those who work in the administration of government, the Al Qassam brigade have largely been obliterated even according to the IDF. Yes you are going to get insurgents, anybody would have to be naive to think otherwise, especially given what Israel have just done to Gaza and what is still happening in the West Bank. None of this is a reason not to pursue a ceasefire and long term peace deal though.
They’re defeated and can’t be making demands or setting the conditions. It has to be an unconditional surrender which means they’ve got no right to be seeking the return of prisoners. They’ve lost, the people are suffering. Hamas need to announce an unconditional surrender and release all the hostages. Then it’s done. They won’t though because they don’t care about the suffering and they don’t want peace.
They’ve made the offer at various points over the last 18 months Most of those prisoners in Israeli jails are there with no charge and no trial
They’ve offered to release the hostages without any conditions or demands? Why are they offering? Why don’t they just do it?
The deal on the table at the moment is one that Israel agreed to just a few months ago So you have to ask, why doesn’t Netanyahu want ANY ceasefire or peace deal ?
Anyway, this has all moved forward a bit more now https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn0rxl7jwwpo.amp at least it did until Israel bombed Qatar and tried to derail it
So they haven’t offered to release the hostages without any conditions or demands. I knew we’d get there eventually. That’s what needs to happen and this will stop. If it doesn’t then Israel will just carry on. Why wouldn’t they when the other side won’t surrender and still hold Israeli hostages?
I never said they had. Why would they ? Thats a stupid position to take. Israel will carry on regardless. That much is clear There is a new plan on the table to broker a ceasefire that was taking place in Doha and Israel tried to kill the negotiators
Cos they’re in no position to make demands. Oh well, that stupid position is going to get thousands more innocent Palestinians killed. Great move
Israel are going to kill them regardless The deal to release all of the hostages could have been accepted by Netanyahu over a year ago
Yeah they can do as they please. All it’s going to do is cause unnecessary suffering and more death to the Palestinians. You and Pinkie are acting like that’s a fair trade off as long as Israel don’t get the win that they want.
