My guess is he signs next summer and Zambrano is loaned to us in Jan, made permanent in the summer.

May seem dodgy but I'm glad Acun is finally using the multi ownership to our benefit.

I’m conflicted and it’s not because I’m anti-Acun or whatever. I’d be happy with us signing Zambrano and Carrero as they’re young talents. However, I hate multi-club ownership. I don’t think it’s fair on the supporters and coaching staff at the ‘junior’ member clubs in the model. Just look at Troyes in France and how they’ve been used as a means to an end for the City Football Group.

If Acun is using Maribor to recruit players for City, I think it’s unfair on their supporters despite it being in City’s interests. They’re a decent club with lots of domestic titles and cups and have competed in the Champions League group stages.

No, he’s an under-20s player from Deportivo Táchira in the Venezuelan league but he’s been in and around their first team in the last year. I guess he’s like their Pharrell Brown.

Yeah I do agree I'm just being selfish I suppose.

The only point maybe to make is that they'd never have gone for those players if it weren't for City wanting them, so they get them for a season they wouldn't have had?

I don't know, it's a funny one. I wonder how the EFL would look on us getting Zambrano on loan with no loan fee in Jan with the owner being the same. Can they do anything about it?

    Yep I’m completely against it
For years posters on here have slagged Watford etc off
    Now we’re joining them
And posters wanting us to keep a drug cheat
    And got him cheap
    Winner winner
    It’s not for me

I can certainly understand the concern there. But that's how it was described when Acun first started talking about owning another club. Rosenior was surprisingly vocal about how important it was to us. If anything, it's weird that it hasn't been used to City's advantage yet.

I suppose if these players play for a season at Maribor and help them win a title, a cup or qualify for the Champions League before coming to us, it’s not as bad. I still don’t like the idea on principle though.

But Savinho being a Troyes player for two seasons and never playing a minute for them whilst they get relegated and linger in the second tier is just taking the piss. They almost got relegated to the third tier and third-tier clubs in France lose their professional status.

Yeah that is a ridiculous example of it, and those formal multi club groups are vile and should be banned.

It's still not great, but as I said being selfish I want the best for City, so if it means not missing out on two hot prospects then I can stomach it.

I’m pretty sure Udinese and Watford are owned by different members of the Pozzo family. The dad owns Udinese and the son owns Watford so whilst their interests may align in some cases and they do each other favours, it’s not as unbalanced a relationship as the CFG or Acun owning both City and Maribor.

I agree, it is weird that the relationship has been pretty dormant since he bought Maribor. At least when he bought Shelbourne, we immediately saw some of our academy players move there and do really well at that level. Jarvis wasn’t happy about being recalled.

I agree, it’s a stain on the game. Shame it’s impossible to police, there is no point disadvantaging ourselves from benefits other clubs around the world exploit.

I get that football fans don't like it but it's a good way of being successful. You get expert knowledge in different leagues, can pool resources, get round work permits regulations, and give minutes to young players in a controlled environment.

The Shelbourne link up worked brilliantly until Acun was Acun. But it was a great destination for an academy kid's 1st loan. We know that we don't have a lot of success when we loan players out and this was a far better option.

4 year deal could well be just to spread out cost for PSR purposes.

I'm torn on multi-club ownership, but it seems many owners are adopting it. I guess it could well be an advantage to both clubs, as players can go both ways. Clearly they rate Zambrano, and after paying his wages whilst suspended, didn't want to lose out on him.
