Today, Wednesday December 14th 2011 is Jane's funeral and it will be time for Billy and us to move on so I will be closing the Billy and Jane threads.

I and I'm sure you have been touched but not surprised at how we have crossed the Tyne/Wear divide to come together with thoughts and deeds, it would be a shame to lose that, hence this thread.

The idea is simple, a place to donate to cancer research for those who wish to, the link to Jane's page is..

    http://donateinmemory.cancerresearchuk.org/0002252

Every penny raised goes to the charity in the hope that eventually we can find a way of ending this terrible illness that will touch most of us at some time.

The second aim of this thread is to be a remembrance page for anyone who needs or wants it.

If you have a faith you may light a candle, say a prayer or write in your churches book of remembrance, feel free to also use this.

For those with no faith then maybe this will help with your loss, a loved one, friend, neighbour, workmate or simple someone you have heard of, it matters not.

I am well aware this is a football forum and yes our rivalry will continue with banter, insults and fall outs, would we want it any other way.

This is just one thread, in Jane's memory, that allows us to remember.

I cant stick it because its cross board but I will bump it for a while.

    Thanks everyone.

    Nice one Syd.
Remember Billy, here is to Jane, who you will meet again, in the house of our lord, where we suffer no pain.

    Morning Syd.

I lost my Father to Cancer so I know what Billy is going through.

I already donate to Cancer charities but I have also donated in memory of Janie.

    Morning

RIP Janie, I hope that wherever she is now is a good place. My grandfather and great-uncle both died of the same type of cancer a couple of years back, so I can go some way in understanding the sadness billy is feeling right now.

Yeah not the best time of the year Syd, but we all have our memories no one can take them away from us. However it does help to talk, especially to decent people like yourself and the guys on here. So hopefully it will help Billy as well. Donation made.

Lost my dad 3 years ago in january, the toughest time in my life. Not a day goes by when I dont think of him. But now the pain isnt so raw I can remember and smile. And be grateful for the time we spent together.

RIP Mr Alastair Collier. One of the greatest men ever to live.

Billy, it will get easier. It doesnt seem like that now, but it does. Just be strong for everyone and dont be afraid to lean on people when times get tough.

    Another good idea Syd.

I lost my Mum in 1981 to lung cancer and my sister in 1983. My sister died 9 days after her 31st birthday (on New Year's Eve) from cervical cancer (what Jade Goody had). She was so determined to beat it and was still working in her hairdresser's shop up till the Christmas before she passed away. She left a 4 year old lad and a devastated husband as well as 4 shellshocked younger siblings. So I have an idea what Billy is going through right now. The wrenching sadness passes with time, but the good memories never fade. When my brother and sisters and I get together, usually at Christmas time these days, we talk about the funny things my mum and sister used to say and do. We have a laugh and we remember the good times we had when growing up and how lucky we were to be a family.

RIP Becky Foster and Pamela Briggs. The best mam and sister anyone could want. xx

My best wishes to anyone who is bereaved. They may be gone, but not from your heart.

Got to say well done to the barcodes who have said some kind words and donated they know who they are and probably top lads in real life, as are the Sunderland lads so we are not too different are we?
Keep going Billy apparently time is a great healer, just a pity they didn't say how long.

I've never lost someone really close to me and I dread the day I do.

I cannot possibly say I understand what Billy is going through, and can't give much advise other than to stay strong and remember your fond memories of her.

    RIP Janie

I would donate but I have no money.
