My belief is that once you claim that this team represents England and flies the flag that changes a little.

When the National Anthem is played, to honour that country, we now have a German manager who doesn't sing along.

If it becomes a pub quiz question it'll be 'Which German won the World Cup in 2026.'

 

I know people who don't watch England and are club only but I always have. However, I've turned off last few games as it is dull as dishwater. Probably to do with the opposition but I've better things to do.

Neither would any coach though. We have some good players, but the team is wildly over hyped and has been for some time.

I like Tuchel, and if you accept the premise that a country should not pay the penalty for producing good enough coaches, as it does if it doesn't produce good enough players, then he's probably the best man for the job.

He is famously good at tournaments so if we go deep you never know, it's a cup . But it is hard to see an England team winning in the scalding temperatures and boiling sun which will be a constant feature next summer.

The answer to that certainly won’t be Tuchel

We need a CB to appear out of nowhere, we aren’t beating France or Spain to a tournament at the minute.

We are short of players if anything happens to Kane, we are short at LB and RB.

We seem to have gone backwards a bit, although having Saka and Jude missing is massive.

Only Madueke and Anderson did anything to really stake a claim.

Hopefully Elliott kicks in at Villa and a CB appears from nowhere.

 

It's always about the players. Mind, around 2000- 2004 we had a belting team and did nowt.

I still say that Southgate, though obviously short in really big games, did better than given credit for in getting to two finals and a semi. The squad was hugely over hyped . Good, but not as good as the one that featured Owen, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, Ferdinand etc.

That squad should have won at least 2 tournaments. In spite of strong competition. We were robbed twice of course.
