I would say it's time for the term " my honourable " to be dumped.

As a general comment I agree. I think there are a number of archaic things that need updating in our country.

Everyone has things in their past that are viewed as negative by society. By that logic, nobody is honourable.

When you are perfect perhaps then you can judge?

Whatever her politics the lass made a mistake when she was 16. If she was middle class or a Tory she would be seen as a success story.

Honourable meaning :- used as a title for certain high officials, the children of certain ranks of the nobility, and MPs.
It could not be further from the truth.

The honours list should be selected by the public imo. The House of Lords should be replaced , and just how many Baronesses does this small Island of ours need.

Reeves also I'm afraid has herself to blame. Never mind the
Yep. A stupid line of attack, when there are many other quite reasonable ones.

Until they stop using being an a MP as a way to line their own pockets, tough luck if they get the sack, that’s all they deserve, she may be innocent yet though.

Well she has already conceded that she is guilty of not paying the correct tax, claiming bad advice. The people who did the conveyancing though, say they gave her no tax advice as they are not qualified to do so.

You are me would not have a way out of this.

    @Pure River Slut

They closed that thread so I couldn't reply, but Polanski has said he wants more migration. That's an automatic disqualifier in 2025.

Is this the same Public that makes such a good job of selecting MP's?
On the bright side we may well get The UK's equivalent of Mr Trump, come next Election.
I agree that she seems to have had a hard life, and it is very much to her credit that she has done so well, to date.
But she also has laid herself wide open when, as an opposition MP, she has laid into her opponent's for poor judgement and demanding they be sacked when they have made mistakes.
The fact that she originaly took advice suggests, to me, that she had doubts from the start.
Now she is stuck with, what I think of as the 'Jimmy Carr defence.
'I leave it all up to my Accountant, that's what I pay him for'.

And as for the 'Hard Life', I suspect that the majority of contributors on here would make the same claim. And with justification.
But if caught getting out, The System, is unlikely to be particularly sympathetic.

While I have no idea just where she failed and more importantly, her 'expert advisors failed, in this case, it sounds like yet another bit of overcomplicated legislation that would have benefited from being written in plain English, rather than what I guess is a bit from the Sir Humphrey Appleby Hymn Book!!!!
Perhaps, if she hangs on to her job, she could have a go at this.

    Resigned instead of being sacked.
Another one bites the dust, they never learn.
Wonder if she still gets her full pension?

Farage grifted all his benefits as a multimillionaire so why shouldn’t a working class lass.

    I wouldn't even call it a mistake.....just a circumstance.It's happened to any amount....in the modern day,they're no longer victims.
I'm not sure that your constant attempt at class division holds up....you talk about her class or Tory, but,I would question whether her achievements aren't seen as a success story and haven't enabled her to lose the "middle class or a Tory" tag you seem to want to impose on her?
And what are those tags anyway?

No attempt at class division from me but the right has targeted Reeves and Raynor from day 1.

They are working class lasses that have worked jolly hard to get where they are and the misogyny and class hatred comes from the right. If theses lasses were in the Tory party they would be hailed as a fantastic success story.

Sadly too many working class people believe the right wing social media poison that is being pumped out 24/7 funded by wealthy self interested billionaires many of whom have avoided way more tax than Raynors alleged misdemeanour.

So Rayner avoiding paying her tax because she is ‘one of us’ (she isn’t) isn’t as bad as right wing politicians.

She has shown she’s as dirty as the rest of them. Good riddance.

You of all people always going on about people avoiding tax should be celebrating this.
