Most of those coming across aren’t seeking asylum in the true definition. This is why they ditch their documents before arriving. They are economic migrants mate who have been convinced the UK is an easy touch.
I've no doubt that goes on, but I don't know how anybody determines whether that's the case for most of the people coming. Which I guess is what makes it so difficult to sort out the asylum claims.

Surely if you are a genuine asylum seeker, you don’t ditch your documents as these would expedite your asylum application? I appreciate that we should be considered a safe haven to those who are genuine, but those undocumented boat people aren’t asylum seekers IMHO.
