Interesting indeed, I'm sure many on here will have put money away for a rainy day and the key point always is your investment may go down or up. No matter how good your advisor you always need to invest a bit of your own common sense. Makes you wonder what support is and was available from the FA, PFA and the likes, all noticeably absent from the programme. Not a legal expert in any way shape or form but I think they really should focus on the forged signatures bit.
Yeah the support wasn’t mentioned and you’d assume from watching there was none at all at the time of those particular investments. I don’t know whether that was the case or not, or whether players chose to ignore or not take up the support. There were some areas, such as the TV ‘investments’ that I had less sympathy for because that’s been discussed in depth before because that was always clearly a way of avoiding tax as much, if not more, than simply investing money. The other areas such as being sold apartments that were overpriced and linked to family of the financial managers I had a lot of sympathy for the players and, as you say, the dodgy signatures clearly looks like fraud. You’d hope the PFA and clubs do better now because if managed sensibly some players are earning wealth now that could look after their families for generations. Players like Robbie Fowler with his more traditional property investments did well in that era, but it’s still difficult to feel sorry for the players that were either poorly advised or defrauded and now have nothing
Anyone else watched Con Mum? Quite an incredible story, hard to believe a bloke who's clearly fairly intelligent, was robbed so badly and for so long.
Wasn’t going to watch the new Naked Gun , as thought it wouldn’t be anywhere near the original , was fairly amusing though I thought .
I've seen the trailer to the film and aren't really sure whether i'll watch it or not, As much as I like Neesom's acting, I just don't see him as a comedy actor, the scenes I saw didn't really do it for me. I think I was too spoilt by the late great Leslie Nielsen to accept any other actor in his role.
Understand that thought , I was similar and thought I’d give it a go as not seen a decent comedy for ages , Personally thought it was nowhere near as funny as the original , but still an enjoyable watch, a couple of really laugh out loud moments that wouldn’t be out of place in the originals
Not watched it yet, but when I heard about it I thought it was a dreadful idea. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it though
Always one to give something a chance, I watched the first 5 minutes last night. I then swapped to something else. I'll give it a another go when I'm more in the mood, but the first scene put me off.
I thought it was a really good film and true to the original spirit. The first scene has no relevance to the plot and is not indicative of the style and humour of the overall film. It was heavily used in the trailers and promotion and, I would argue, gives a false impression of what's to come.
That's good to know as I liked the original Police Squad/Naked Gun I haven't seen the trailers so as first impressions go it wasn't very good. I need to be in the mood for comedy, so will revisit it in the next week.
I’ve just watched it There’s a few funny bits in it and Pam still looks good But it’s not the same. And shows how good Leslie Nielsen was.
