WAR! What is it good for?

You never bought cosmetics for your wife or daughter, or are you too manly to do that?

 

I admire people and businesses taking a stand. But ultimately I have to agree that I'm kind of torn on it. And I'm not sure I want to see high st shops being politicised.

I've got some strong political opinions, but I keep all of that stuff well away from my business and don't post any of that on my social media feeds, because ultimately I'm there to sell a product and not convey a political message.

 

Oh I used to shop in Lush for myself mate

Their deodorant blocks were my go to. Got a funny random story involving me being accosted by the Old bill and a Lush deodorant, but that's probably for another day lol

 

If I'm remembering correctly Lush is the one with big colourful blocks of either soap or bubble bath....whereas Body shop was more green boring bottles of stuff. I think the latter went out of business, not sure.

Edit: actually just remembered Body shop still exist online.

 

Yeah that's them. Lush is the shop that you can smell from around 150 yards away lol

I think when it’s a one-man band, you’ve got every right to do what you want. Some small businesses round here post all sorts of mad **** on their Instagram pages which is a bit odd and it’s more because they’re mental than any thought behind the pros and cons to them commercially.

When it’s a big business you’re effectively projecting your view as the owner/directors onto every member of staff on the shop floor which is wrong. I expect it’s a smart decision from Lush which they have put thought into that’ll do them more harm than good just because people are reminded they exist whether they’re raging Palestine fanatics or not. I worked for a big brand that got some negative coverage for a decision to alter its product to be more profitable. There was a huge uptick in sales despite the people up in arms about it simply because the brand was in the news for a day.

Yeah same bro. I'll often pick a bunch of flowers out on my walks, tie them into a bouquet and give them to my missus when I get back
