Anyone else got the popcorn put? It’s pretty much the most hilarious fan meltdown in football history!

Snd it’s making all of the other clubs realise pretty much everything we’ve known about their fans for such a long time!!

I agree, but when you've got sycophantic arseholes like John Gibson and Anal Lover and the tripe they came out with for donkeys years in the Chronic and Journal, it's easy to brainwash them. And yet they probably weren't even the beginning.

I said on an earlier post that a mate's dad has a theory that blames a lot of it on T Dan Smith, the leader of Newcastle Council in the 60s. How he created a sense of Geordie superiority that spilled over into football and set the way the mags are now. It's a long theory and brings a lot of threads together, but makes sense when you get it together. When I get a chance I'll write it on here.

I just can't get my head around this Isak carry-on at all. The lad played incredibly well for them for several years, got them into the Champions League, brought them a trophy, and understandably wanted to move up a level when the opportunity came knocking. It's a similar situation to Jobe with us, yet Jobe left amicably in a deal benefiting all parties, and with the best wishes of everyone at SAFC and the adoration of the fans. But Isak gets called worse than ****, they claim he was never any good, accused of match fixing, character assassinations galore, etc... I just don't understand it.

Why couldn't they just say "thanks for the memories, all the best" like any normal person would?

I don’t know why they’re complaining. Surely Isak leaving paves the way for M’bappe to fulfill his destiny and become the only living Geordie messiah.

One of the most laughable aspects are the continual claims, from Mags, that 'Newcastle made Isak the player he is', so he should be grateful.

This is someone who'd already won two Cups, in Germany and Spain, and played for Sweden for years.

Newcastle paid a club record fee of £60m and brought in a top 'oven ready' striker who scored against Liverpool on his debut.

The way they're talking you'd think he'd been plucked from the lower leagues and brilliantly coached into a top player.

They do have a reputation for paying a fortune and unearthing unknown internationals.

I know Liverpool aren’t the innocent party here, but publicly they’ve said very little, anything leaked to press was along the lines of ‘Will bid if encouraged to do so’.

We will never know how it was handled but it was the Mags who played it out in press. Wouldn’t be a shock to anyone if it’s exactly what they wanted as they clearly needed that money in even before signing the 2 strikers.

Clubs like Liverpool don’t need to drag players there. They don’t need to promise them the world, ask them to strike. Whatever.

They simply need that player to think there’s a remote possibility they can go to Liverpool.

When we sold them Hendo, to a man and it was ‘old 606’ days, we were proud he was going there.

I’m seeing people saying they ‘hope his does his ACL and never plays again’ it’s beyond vile.

The lad has gone to win the PL and compete for the CL. He has given that club a memory for a lifetime after 70 years without a trophy.

They could have come out of this looking very clean, they chose to dig in and go full ‘we are so important’ then caved in, got a lower fee, lower quality replacements and ended up looking amateur.

I have no doubt they’d have gotten a higher level forward had they not tried to play billy big bollocks with an absolute behemoth of a club.

If they'd just gone to the negotiating table early I'm almost 100% sure they'd have come out of it with a better fee for Isak, a decent relationship with Liverpool, and Ekitike on their books. But their club have acted absolute tits from day 1 and ended up with none of those things.

The weird thing is, there's a relatively large section of their fans convinced the club can do no wrong and this was the best possible outcome... club acted perfect and it's all Isak's fault. But anyone with a single logical brain cell can see that just isn't the case. I know all sets of fans have an element of "tribalism" to their support, but there seems to be a disproportionate number of Newcastle fans who take it to bizarre, almost cult-like levels.

    It’s crazy mate.

A relationship with Liverpool is massive for them: With all the big clubs.

You wanna be at that table, don’t take the food off it.

Contrast it with our dealings with Chelsea/BlueCo group this summer. Night and day.

I hear them say ‘Howe is great at developing players’ constantly. Now, I am first to admit he’s been superb for them as a ‘team manager’ but who the **** did he develop?

    £40million Joelinton?
    £30million Bruno?
    £50million Tonali?
    £60million Isak?

Even the lower cost Botman, Livaremento etc where already well on in their careers.

I can’t think of a single player of the top of my head he’s developed, I’m sure there is one but there certainly isn’t a pattern and a wave of them.

Howe likely leaves there for England and does an equally adequate job as every England manager.

He isn’t going to manage Liverpool or Arsenal or City is he? He simply isn’t flexible enough.

High press or long ball. That’s not winning at a top club.

I don’t think he’s got the character of charisma to manage a top club.

He’s been ‘little boy lost’ in this Isak saga and that won’t have gone unnoticed.

Pep, Slot, they own the room and they give defined and strong responses. Maresca does. Arteta does too in his whiny way.

Howe doesn’t have it. Howe comes across in truth as a nice bloke, a good bloke who would be a solid but quiet part of a group of pals.

It's weird isn't it, like they're always on defensive and determined to be the victims. Imagine if the Guiu situation had happened to them... I GUARANTEE it would be along the lines of:

    "EVERYONE'S AGAINST US"
    "CHELSEA ARE SCUM"
    "FORCE HIM TO STAY"
    "HE DISRESPECTED US"
"MAKE HIM PLAY FOR THE U21S ALL YEAR"

That's the fans, and you can be sure the club would handle it just as poorly.

Contrast that with our approach of: "Okay, let's come to a deal that works for everyone as quickly as possible".

I just don't understand how anyone can think the first approach is remotely sensible or even... sane?

They see themselves as one of the big boys, fuelled by a relatively young fanbase born of the Keegan era.

They’ve been bred insular and it’s messy. Sunderland Newcastle is a rivalry that dates back centuries and beyond football, but the hatred and obsession is relatively new.

Was always there, but not as widespread and visible.

I don’t hate Geordies, I don’t hate Mags, I don’t wish harm on them and I don’t really care who someone supports. I’d go as far as to say, as most of us would, that we are a bigger club with them in existence and I absolutely respect the element of their fans that are just like us, passionate, deeply bonded fans of their local team and its value to their city.

They have never been close to the level of the top clubs, the top clubs have never seen them as part of that group. You see bewilderment from Liverpool fans when they calm them ‘rivals’ cos they never really have been, and certainly aren’t now.

They had their one near miss under Keegan but they have never even looked close to competing at the very top since. The uneducated and loud minority of them that thought the Saudi regime could buy the PL were at the very best misguided. More likely moronic.

They say ‘City did it and Chelsea’, City build a world leading academy and facilities and took several years to win the PL. Newcastle have spent huge sums on players who had no interest from the very teams they are trying to catch. They are not in the same stratosphere as Liverpool, City, Arsenal and even a flailing and wounded United.

What they have there is a brilliant football club with an unquestionably loyal and passionate fanbase. That should be celebrated but the delusion and lack of self awareness and reality is making them more and more of a parody of what they stand for.

The irony of the Isak/Wissa deals, the contradiction of zero hour contracts/Saudi ownership. The constant need to proclaim their size and how ‘unique’ they are. It’s all absolutely extraordinary.

I have many Mag friends, great lads, realistic lads, often frustrated just like us. These are the lads they need to build a club to shine to, not trying to go toe to toe with Liverpool and not only yielding, but dropping both their sale price and the quality of there replacements in the process.

We used to be so alike as clubs, as fans, and now it’s chalk and cheese, night and day.

It’s gotten so twisted that I barely cared when they win a trophy. It used to be like being stabbed if they win 1-0 at Everton.

They can be what they are. I’m more than happy for us to remain on our current path. I don’t want our club to be anything like that (Bar a trip to Europe).
