An amusing anecdote for you lot. I went to a symposium in Manchester yesterday, at the Bridgewater Hall. The theme was 'Beyond Digital Healthcare' and some of the presentations were actually very interesting, for a change. I dipped out at about 2.00 pm and went to a pub I used on and off when I worked in Manchester called 'The Britons Protection' Some of you non-plastic mancs may know it. It boasts a massive selection of malt whisky, which was one of the reasons I used to go. I was chatting to the owner, who just happens to be from West Derby. I was sampling a 17 year old Ardbeg, when I nearly choked on it. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a malt I'd never, ever heard of, distilled in Czechoslovakia. HAMMERHEAD Google it. It's for real. I wonder what it tastes like.........................................
Disturbing, to say the least. Have you seen this one mate: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16163931
With population and fresh water shortages droughts disease energy costs pollution and all round general destruction of everything we touch research resources could be better used, can't wait to see how this will help humanity for €500 a pop in some igadget in some years to come Still I sleep safe in my bed at night knowing there are fabrics that absorb radar
Don't be such a cynic! Without research & experimentation we'd still be using Vic 20's & Commodore 64's.
I can say I got as much fun out of my 64 as I did out of my playstation. Maybe more as I was already well accustomed to consoles by then. Of course there is good research being done, much great work. was having a pop at the wastage of research on useless things n general thats all. I am cynical as fk tho, in a pragmatic way, it is part of a discovery process when dealing with a problem, it is not a predisposition, you have to challenge everything and not just accept information as is. Apologies for the off topic OP. backtotopic
