Probably just how wobbly they looked against the two teams who haven’t embarrassed themselves by parking the bus against you.
Who do we think the best signings of the window will be ie who will have the biggest impact? For me, Grealish has been amazing so far at Everton and for nothing as a loanee, pound for pound might be the best signing of the season if he can keep it up. Ekitike so far at Liverpool has also been very impressive (except for yesterday when the two teams pretty much cancelled each others attack out, were it not for an amazing goal from Szoboszlai), I think Isak pretty much was an expensive risk, because I think in Ekitike Liverpool already had their main man. Joao Pedro for us has had an excellent start, pretty much a goal contribution in every appearance, whether its as a striker or as a 10. He certainly will be our best signing. Eze will be great for Arsenal, he basically gives them what they have in Saka but on the other side of the pitch. Simons will be excellent for Spurs I feel, I dont know why we dropped our interest in him and got Garnacho instead, because I think we will regret it.
Eze it's not a winger though right? Inside left forward/left AM? He's quality no doubt but Arsenal stuck him out wide thank ****.
My comments were based more on the Charity Shield tbf ... and I concede that it's still early ... but Palace cut through the back line with some ease ... I also think Arteta was way too cautious in the way he approached the game ...
"There is no ceiling for Newcastle. Congratulations. Some other clubs have ceilings. We cannot act like them. It is not possible." How times change. Those were the words of then Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in October 2022. Less than three years later, his successor Arne Slot has just overseen the biggest spend by a club in a transfer window. And they have taken Newcastle's prize asset Alexander Isak for a British record £125m fee as part of their £415m summer outlay. Newcastle, it turns out, were ultimately the ones with the ceiling. What a massive gurning ****. please log in to view this image
Grealish has found a soul mate in Dewsbury-Hall and their combination has been very impressive - funnily enough, Troy Deeney put KDH in his team of the week and not Jack ... Everton have now got a very good midfield ... fluid, mobile and all will weigh in with goals ... pains me to say, but I suspect I will enjoy watching them ... very much as I did with Palace and Bournemouth last season ... One caveat - they need to keep them all fit ...
That's how the takeover of your club was put forward to the world especially by the fans. Hasn't quite gone like that though. Through the constant success built by Klopp We've been able to spend like this.
... that 'constant success' left you with Net Debt of £307 million by the end of the 23-24 season ... suspect you being able to spend as you have has much more to do with increased lines of credit ...
