How long we got left for the deal sheets? Any news on Pembele, Anderson, Ba, Etc. Thought we would have sorted a few more outgoings.
I'm sure it was reported that Poveda was on a pretty low contract that was boosted by appearance money and bonuses, so I can see his contract being paid up so he can move on. A gamble that didn't work out, but didn't cost much either. Matete probably released on a free, though maybe if not, he's another supposed to be on a fairly small contract (league one terms) so it wouldn't hurt us much if we can't clear him out until January. Club outgrew him very quickly. Ba, by most accounts has pretty much dropped off the planet. It seems his confidence is totally shot and hasn't done enough anywhere for anyone to be interested in. Probably released/paid up but I'd not be surprised if he either winds up playing somewhere like Cyprus or Malta or even drops out of football all together. A shame, he showed flashes in his first season with us that there was a decent player there, but something has gone completely wrong with him. Pembele, released or maybe given a loan to somewhere where the transfer window hasn't shut yet. I'm not sure if his knee injury took more out of him than was thought or whether it's an attitude thing with him. If the others were outgrown or unlucky or simply relatively cheap gambles that didn't pay off, he's a major disappointment. He's given me the impression that he doesn't want to be here and never did want to. I could understand it if he was a superstar or had better offers from elsewhere, but he's not. It almost feels like the club have forgotten him. Anderson. Release, though it could be like one of those wildlife videos where they try to release the captive animal back into the wild, but it crawls back into the carry box and goes to sleep. Apparently turned down opportunities to leave on loan and permanently, hasn't had a future here for over a year, yet still around the place. Rumours go that Joe Anderson is actually possessed by the spirit of a recently dead Jack Rodwell, hence why he never plays but won't leave. I'm changing my mind about releasing him. We probably need to get a couple of priests in to do an exorcism to get rid of him. Another cheap gamble that didn't work out.
Anderson playing a risky game rejecting the Shrewsbury move in the winter window and others in the summer. Sure he's getting decent money from us now but no guarantee that clubs will be queuing up for a 24 year old with 30 senior appearances.
https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...er-sam-greenwood-budget-limited-claim-5179865 Also just a nice reminder and a bit of a comic digestif for our excellent window. wonder if the best part of 200 million pounds counts as a "limited budget".
I still can't believe how much we've spent. I thought Le Fee was the marquee signing and we'd mebees pick up one or two for < 10m. Doesn't seem 2 minutes since we were scratching around for free transfers and journey men. Credit to the people running our club and long may it continue.
Funnily enough, they may have done us a favour here. I don’t think we get Geertruida/Brobbey if we sign Lucumi. Had we signed him I reckon we’d have potentially had to tell Chelsea no if the funds weren’t available.
I guess there are 2 trains of thought on that. 1. We are not good enough to create the chances we need (like against Burnley) Or 2. We create chances but need a bit more time to get used to how RLB wants to play and time to gel together. By the way I think I am option 2 and really think we may improve exponentially this season and surprise even more teams. We will probably have a better idea after 15 games or so but for now I am in the very optimistic camp.
Well the club blew my expectations way out the water from just about day one. Reckoned about 5 or 6 for first team with a lot of young prospects, aiming to try and stay up but realistically planning to go down and then bounce back with a vengeance. Instead we have shifted gear to some steroid fuelled crazy version of the recruitment model. Whatever happens from this point on KLD has absolutely delivered. If we stay up he will be spoken of in same terms as Sir Bob and big Niall Quinn. Now how much powder do we have left for the January window…
He's probably, apart from Xhaka the only one we knew anything about having been in the PL. The rest I'll admit are unknowns. To me anyhow.
Well,I'm delighted with this window,I think the club have been brilliant and we have a real chance to stay in this league this season. Anyone got any idea how much we've paid for Brobbey and Traore?
Guiu going back essentially means we got the lad on loan and Traore for nout, not a bad trade off imo, excited by Brobbey if his head is right he could be a monster
